Stranglehold problem

Srry for posting a problem related to stranglehold now, i just got my hands on it

whenever i start a new game ..it says loading and i get an error saying
Rendering thread exception:
general protection fault!
History;Address: blah blah blah and crashes..all i can do is restart manually

Every post on the midway and stranglehold forum is related to the same question but there is no proper solution to it....
i first thought it was my ram...i just have 1 gb ram...

but so many people have played the game with 1 gb ram...
i have xp proffesional sp 2 and have no intentions on upgrading to vista....
so guys help me out!
i really wanna play dis game badly..
my specs
core2duo e4300
intel mobo dg965ry
xfx 8600GT
1 gb ram

I had got this 'General protection failure' message in Rainbow Six Vegas 2.The solution I got was trying to relocated the main installed game in the C:\Program Files\ directory.If you have installed the game other than the default C:\Program Files\ default directory then this would be a good option to try out.
