Hey guyz I am fed up and planning to submit a RTI request and need help choosing the right ministry.
It regarding courier which my friend sent from Ireland and till now I didnt receive yet. It already been 3 months. Mostly customs officials took it as it has no tracking number. Please can any 1 tell me under which ministry courier and customs office of mumbai comes.?
 
Why do you want to send the RTI application to the ministry?
Every department has got their own Public information Officer, you need to seek information from them.
You are not clear in telling your problem, I understand that your mail got lost in the courier, but you have not provided in which courier it was mailed.
If it was mailed through Postal services, you have to seek information from them too. (Postal department)

well the parcel is mostly at Videsh dak bhavan mumbai. They replied me they cant help as my parcel has no tracking number. But the parcel had expensive electronic items. I am trying to file rti through https://rtionline.gov.in/ website. It is asking me to select the ministry first. I dont know I am bit confused.
 
One more option is use Online RTI. They charge ₹150 (i.e. ₹140 extra, as RTI costs only ₹10) but they do everything for you.

Don't get into a mess. If something critical get help from activists. RTIs are risky business in India

oops what is the risk.? can you tell me which website. I am ready to pay

There is no risk involved in your case.[DOUBLEPOST=1429876423][/DOUBLEPOST]Postal Department comes under Ministry of Communications and Information Technology
Customs comes under Ministry of Finance and Revenue

Well, risk is if you are going after a politician or someone powerful, it can get pretty bad. You have not mentioned what kind of RTI you are submitting, so just for caution I warned you.

Just saw this post. No risks involved your case.

Use Gov's site. In ₹10 it will be done.

I am using the site which you gave me . Its much easier and hassle free. I dont mind paying more
 
You need to make sure that it's some sarkari babu or sarkari dept behind your misery. Call or write to them to extract more information. Once you get some incriminating evidence, file your complaint at pgportal.gov.in

RTI is not valid in this case. Let's say if it works for you, then I am assuming following is the kind of info you are going to get:
- Your parcel is under Mr Tyagi's desk, at Bandra office.
- Your parcel is at Mr Sharma's home in Nagpur.
- Mr Gupta's son has used your electronics for a science project. It's with his school now.
- Your parcel broke during unloading at the airport. Please deposit Rs 2000 incurred in handling the e-waste.
- :p

Because you ask for information in an RTI application, information is all you are going to get... not your missing parcel.
 
File an RTI at any dept. through the online portal. RTI Act has a provision that makes it mandatory to forward the application to the correct department in case it is received by a wrong dept.
I filed an RTI to the Reserve Bank, but since it was not present as an option, I filed it to the Finance Ministry instead. They took care of forwarding it to the RBI.
