Howz the movie subramaniapuram?:D I liked it!

sa-ro-ja I have to see soon.

they are tamil movies for the uninitiated.

subramaniapuram is complete in that it looks the 1979-80's exactly.the dress, style et al.

I dont know who is this hero.hero's friend is the director of the movie.

remember childhood days.:| although this is not how we(kerala) wear the dress exactly.

Tam Directors need to start releasing DVDs (so that non Tam speakers = a large majority of the population) can also watch Tam cinema

and also need to start spending some money on hiring better subtitle writers

As is, Tam movies get released on DVD with a cycle far longer than what you see for Hollywood/Hindi flicks

And to add insult, the subtitling job is done by a bunch of guys who probably failed their high school english exams

On a side note, the commercial cinema makers in Tollywood might as well not do that

If you thought Hindi commercial cinema was retarded, Tam commercial cinema seems to be still stuck in a time warp

(No offense meant to Tam cinema fans, my comment above is applicable to only the typical Tollywood potboilers like Bheema/Chandramukhi etc... Chennai 28 and Mounaragam are two examples at the other end of the spectrum that come to mind...)

also I am kinda pissed off that the lack of DVD releases and good subtitles will prevent me from watching both of these flicks)

I always seemed to enjoy tamil cinema rather than hindi(which I can understand better) due to the experimenting of tam directors and new themes like this subramaniapuram. :D .

and telegu movies with a kid called alli arjunan dubbed is running in packed houses here in kerala. our(kerala) film industry is dieing a slow death like kannada movie industry.now hindi, tamil and telegu movies are rocking.

and recommend me some good tam movies I can watch(I will be in coimbatore next month :D ).

and I like to share a song which I like verrry much from subramaniapuram :

Subramaniyapuram was a great movie! Really like the period setting, and the execution, which was very very good. Saroja too, is a different movie so to speak. The way the team brings in comedy in a thriller is commendable!

The only reason i still have faith in tamil movies is because of movies like these, which are devoid of so called "big stars", and yet are so well taken! Thankfully, I still visit the theaters at least thrice a year to watch decent tamil flicks.

guys if you like subramaniapuram, you got to watch chennai 600028 .... you will like the same hero performance there .... kinda its meant only for youngsters like us.

Saroja and Chennai 28 are directed by the same director and must see for all youngsters. I like chennai 28 more than saroja .... cause the later movie has some chase sequence does not create any thrill. But comedy by premji is awesome.

i agree to ^^ chennai 600028 was really a good movie...hrd that subramanyapuram second half is having a lotta violence

@superczar..

AFAIK Moser Baer DVDs had good subtitles..

Have you checked them out??

Btw, Moser Baer had released the Chennai 600 028 DVD around a month back.. (with subs ofcourse!)

@Praka. . . Do watch anbe sivam, if you already havent. . . One of its kind

This one has more sentiments than fun, the way Kamal negotiates with Naazaar, loses his love, his communistic approach, moves with / changes Maddy etc .... not of that type of Saroja and Ch 28.

Hey the madavan part is fun....and a great movie. moreover subramaniapuram is more like indian blood and gore movie:p

sub'puram second half is more or less like paruthiveeran (another kickass movie, must see how karthik (hero who actually studied / came from US ) performed nothing less like the espouse village guy ) .... !!

However the difference is that S'puram has 70-80's trend, P'veeran has Village trend.

I had seen anbe sivam on theatre itself.dont really like it.kamal's way of showing communism..

paruthiveeran I saw that movie.I am surprised by the rural tamilandu and its crude ways(although I heard about tirunalveli and nagarkovil for violence from my friends from there :P )
