Successor to z-5500 logitech - Finally...

no design changes in subwoofer same ported design same plastic satelites only looks changed.logitech allways fails in big room they only sound good in a small room the satelites are not capable.
 
I am so much happy with my Z5500. Its worthy than z906 i think.

Z-5500 sub = 187 w RMS
Z 906 sub = 165 w RMS
-------------------------------
Z-5500 center = 69 w RMS
all other = 61 w RMS
Z 906 all = 67 w RMS

My que is the "Stackable control console" of Z906 get dead suddenly like Z-5500 ?

There is no LCD screen, so is it true that it will last longer than the 5500D ?

looking at the current market trend, i think they would launch it at 15.5K-16.5K (has to be lower den d z5500 after looking at the specs), and with the coming months after the launch, prices will fall more rapidly for the z5500 and the z906 will see a steady decline.

Not many of them would want a big ass AVR when the decoder unit can sit inside a smaller pod (Z5500) and the amp. could be squeezed into the sub enclosure. Not to mention paying close to 9k more for the Onkyo HTIB. Of SQ may be different for both the units in question.
 
Yes, 3400 is better than this, but as I goggled earlier Sub of 3 Series not Active one, only 5 Series sub is active. Many owners here and other forum rate the sub under power of 3 series Onkyo HTIB . Onkyo 5 Series HTIB starts 50k which is actually very tempting in my view.

But 5500's sub is a proven product......So expectation is up for Z906.
 
I just bought the Event Alps5 for a friend, they do not have as much as subbass as the Z5500, but lets be real, that logitech ain't the closest thing to a neutral sounding speaker system.

Yes it does have a lotta connectivity options and a overpowered subbass which drowns out a lot and what you can not hear, and what you cannot hear, you will never know.

The Event Alp5 has a very detailed, neutral, fuller sounding sound experience. Being bi-amped active monitors means I don't have to use a receiver or an amp to drive them, and they are extremely loud even when driven from my iPhone. But thats the case with most active monitors. So if music/movies is your first requirement, active monitors rather than logitech's speakers is what i'd recommend.

By any chance, if u meant "TrueHD or DTSMA" by 'true 5.1 sound', then the answer will be NO.Otherwise, it can take normal DTS and Dolby 5.1 inouts sampled at 1536 kbps and 640kbps respectively.Anything higher and u need HDMI to pass through the audio signal lossless.

:) Well,yea....but for around 22-23k,u can get an Onkyo HTiB with all that and more(like 3D support and more connectivity).So,its well worth the extra 5-6k IMHO rather than going for Logitech,but if its priced anywhere in the 15k range or below, well, thats another story.
 
I used to own the Z5500 but was not satisfied with the audio quality.
That too after it was being fed by a Asus Xonar DX.
So dont have much expectations from this one as well.
