Hey Fellas -

I have gone through some of the posts here, members are advising for APC over Microtech because of many reasons.

Here is my requirement -

1. currently having a Samsung plasma 51" E550 which takes some 250 watts
2. Onkyo 3300 which has roughly 400 watts
3. Videocon DTH
4. Asus Mini o player

I want that whenever lights go out, i should be able to atleast switch these all off properly. I am thinking for a 1 KVA.

Please suggest which model should i buy, at what price anf from where (currently in Udaipur)

Thanks again.

if you are buying 1 kva ups, better get apc smart ups. they have higher efficiency or power factor.
normal ups have a pf of 0.6 means they will support up to only 600 watts.
otherwise go for 1.5 kva ups

@coolcatric, go for a APC BR1100VA-IN (1.1KVA) ~5000/- minimum anything below will be a compromise.

http://www.apc.com/site/apc/index.cfm?isocountrycode=in

If you want to have better options available, call up APC India and have a word with them on the same, they can even guide you to the local retailer, distributor head for APC.

Hope this helps, Cheerio!

As a rule of thumb always half the VA rating on the UPS to know its effective Wattage (Power factor), with local brands the biggest risk is these numbers are not-reliable enough and that is why we are telling you to avoid the same.

I can spend 5k for this, as i dont to take any risk with 1 lac investment on my system. I am in Udaipur, let me check for this model.

Any way to order this model online ?

Thanks again

I am using APC Back-UPS RS 1100 for last 2 years without any problem with:

1. Samsung 46" LCD TV
2. Onkyo 5300
3. Tata SKy+ HD
4. Xtreamer Pro with 2 Internal 3.5" HDDs and one external USB 3.5" HDD

I am very satisfied.
