Hi Guys

As u know currently Mtnl is not giving any 2mpbs connections here in mumbai

and there is a huge waiting list are there any alternatives.

Is that Tata thing there in mumbai.

Can someone please explain me other 2mbps nul plans available in Mumbai.

Yes Dude, the Tata thing is here in mumbai and it ROCKS!!! :party:

Where else you can get 2mbps NUL at a minimum 800 bucks a month!!!

Currently downloading more than 5 GB per night!!! :hap2:
 
So howz the connection u get full 2mbps speed and are there any disconnections.

wats the exact dl speed that u are getting in KB/s

also wat sort of device is there from the tata ppl wired connection or wireless.

can u post pics of the tata devices to give me a clear idea.

thinking of Quick power 360 + 99 NUL.

Also wat do i need to do to apply for one quick power 360 + 99Rs 2mbps nul plan immediately , also is there a waiting like MTNL or immediately will we get one.

Also i stay in Malad , do they offer there service in Malad [if ne one has been using in malad.]

also wanted to know is there a way to track how many mins are left in the time based plan.

Sometimes on torrents I get full 220 KBps. Most of the time it hovers around 175KBps (But that's because I haven't tweaked the torrent settings etc..) Don't get any disconnection except after 11 hours of continuous login, the system logs me out automatically!!! So have to re-login after 11 hours...

I asked the customer care reps if we need any router for the 2mbps connection (earlier I was on 256kbps UL). They said not required. So currently I am on just the LAN cable they installed (the router is common to my building and is situated on the terrace)

Well, I had my net installed a year ago when the Tata guyz were installing their infrastructure for my whole society (16 buildings each having 40 flats) and that had taken an eternity to get installed... :@

All I can say is that when you have the Quick Power plan ready then the NUL plan can be activated immediately online...

Yep, on the TataIndicom website, you can login and see the broadband usage (data downloaded/time utilised/days remaining etc)

Hey quad, do u have both MTNL and Tata phone lines @ home ? :S
havent seen Tata common router things in our area.

MTNL is yet to upgrade my plan to 2 mbps NU, waiting for more than a month now. :@
 
I have just a mtnl connection wired.

Doesnt the Tata have a wireless box and a lan cable out of it to the lan card kinda thing.

As our local cablewalla has his switch on top of the bldg , so i dont thing that kinda thing wud be possible in our society , its his monopoly in our huge society , so chances of internet via switch on top of the bldg is very very less but thats left to TATA.

aint there any wireless kinda thing or wireless router knda thing.

one more important thing , will this net work without any issues with linux [fedora , ubuntu , open suse , pclinuxos 2007 etc.]
 
I wanted to know the exact same thing & sorry for butting into this conversation.I am currently on the shitty scheme from pacenet & standing today frustrated due to our LAN division via a V-LAN.:@

Alright now with that said even I wanted to know if TATA is routing their connections as per ADSL basis or is sharing the connection via switches sharing common LAN connections spread across various area.I heard that MTNL is bummed as far as waiting list is concerned & am not panning to shift unless I get an instant connection.So which is the best way to shift without having to pile up their additional Walky's & stuff like that? :(
 
ok guys just got some updates from my cablewalla.

He says he has Tata's Broadband Connection :hap2: :jumpy: :jerry: :clap: man today is my happiest day.

As soon as my pathetic pacenet expires in 2-3 days switching to Tata for sure.

Installation

well nothing is to be done my existing cable connection which was provided for me by my cable walla.

[Hes the key person who has to agree to give Tata]

Plan

Quick Power 360 valid for 6months and limit of 360Hrs @ 2Mbps.

Now with this we have the 99Rs Night Unlimited Plan

Additional money is deducted from the 360 Plan

so that amounts to 10Hrs per month from the 360Hrs

so all u get is 300Hrs for full day access from 9am to 9pm for 6months + night unlimited 9pm to 9am --> 2Mbps Night Unlmited for 6months.
 
I didn't quite understand the pricing system.Sorry about that.Could you simply put down how much do we pay in total for 6 months plan & also do we require that dreaded Walky phone for it?
 
No Phone required

Hardware required = Lan card in ur PC thats it.

Your bldg shud have a switch or a hub at the terrace thru which the lan cable will come to ur home and connect in ur lan card.

You need to pay 3641 Rs incl taxes for Power 360 Plan which lasts for 6 months.

Why Power 360

-> Free installation so u save 500Rs

-> gr8 to club with 99Rs Night Unlimited Plan.

Note: The night unlimited plan doesnt start automatically even after u get the Power 360 Plan u need to tell Tata so they deduct 99Rs from ur 3641 Rs that comes to around 10Hrs so a total of 60Hrs for 6 months.

This is the simplest way i can explain :)
 
Hey gotcha.Now I understand this scheme.Didn't get it initially.But I doubt our cablewallah will allow TATA as an ISP as he only has Sify & Pacenet under his belt & both of which we are being off in terms of pricing.Hope they will get TATA in our area.We already have CAT 5 E cables providing us current connection & yes we do have switch on top.
 
If u have switch on ur terrace then there is a very high chance that u can get Tata.

If u use raspppoe then scan and see if u can see Vsnl in that service list if yes

then Tata is there in ur network too.

Else talk with ur cable op first he might offer u Tata.
 
ok so after we get the QuickPower360, how do we get the 2mbps? call them? or is there a website where we can activate it from.

does it get activated instantly or do we have to wait a long timef or it?
 
Default speed of Quick Power 360 is 2mbps, only thing u have to activate iks the Night u/l which will take less than a min to activate(atleast in my case), it can be done online, ask the person who comes to ur house to do it there itself.
 
i called up tata today and they started sayin tht they dont have any switches at my colony so they cant put it... i told them to put a new switch.. and they were like why dont u take wireless? - wtf? i thot tata gives connections everywher.. they give conenction to my neighbouring building but not me?? :S :S
 
ohh ya 1 more thing.. is it compulsory to activate nite unlimited with the timebound plans? cant i just take nite unlimited?
