This is for my aunt, who bought a Samsung a14 phone in this past BBD for about 9k i think. Two days ago the phone was stolen. (The theif then didn't waste any time and drained about 80k from her bank accounts through numerous upi txns).

Anyway, now she's looking for another Samsung phone lol. Please suggest some cheap ones. Like 10k budget maybe. 128gb required. Shouldn't be unusably slow. Thanks.

PS: I see that there are no bank offers currently going on on Flipkart or Amazon. Any other place having any offers on Samsung atm?

Samsung Galaxy M06 5G seems fine for your purpose, if u want it to last 2 years tops. - https://amzn.in/d/65poGAI
Samsung Galaxy M35 5G seems good - https://amzn.in/d/4fDSlaC
But I'd rather take gREen's advice here and avoid any samsung if you can.

Word of warning - Samsung F and M series phones, AKA cheaper phones on Amazon and Flipkart, have had reported issues with dying after a few years of use for some time now due to storage issues, even happened with me.
I'd personally suggest LAVA as i've been getting that for family as well, plus it has the Delicious Anonymous Auto-Call Recording. Its got good clean software and extremely good customer support.
Some suggested Models - https://amzn.in/d/4m8Jp0x (Rs. 11K, 120HZ LCD Screen, 128GB Storage, 5G)
https://amzn.in/d/4NpvyZQ / https://amzn.in/d/2HL2ey3 (120Hz Curved AMOLED Screen, Rs. 15k for 128GB, Rs. 15.5K for 256GB, 5G)

Final Thoughts - Honestly getting a Samsung from a local shop seems like the smartest move as at least you'll have a person to physically go to when something goes wrong.
I am that perfect example. My samsung phone bought in 2019 became so much unresponsive that I have to take a nap before each task it does when I press anything. It becomes so sluggish after an year with camera & browsing. I mean I bought budget phones only then.

Please name processor & RAM & Storage

Realme Narzo is a good phone (my CHOOSEY type friend once used Oppo Reno 28k phone (in 2020), now using Realme Narzo 70 and is happy with but caution not to compare it with 28k Reno)

Now days even 30-40-50k mobiles keep developing Green Line etc. issue and once you go to service center you came to know real color till that ALL BRANDS are good for their price.

Samsung OneUI is one of the best UI in Android Phone and is good phone, if you know what permission to allow and when to decline, I myself using Samsung A50s since 2020 Diwali without any issue, yes it's little slowdown as it's 4GB RAM model, I will not blame Samsung as 4GB RAM is really shit with each & every Android Update, so now I keep suggesting 8GB RAM only.

Why I suggesting Infinix 50x (5G+) ? as maximum YouTubers are agreed that they have improved lot in Software Development with Android 15, OP can wait for 10-15 days for real user expreince as on 03 April 2025 it will be launch finally on FK and than after reading (and avoiding FAKE) review .. decide best

Any brand phone you buy, but if you DROP it and abuse with it than NONE going to sustain without issue and for long time as after June 2020 each & every brand just want you to keep buying new/upgrade phone every year.

How long do these sales last? Like 5 mins or less? If it runs for 5 mins at least then i can give it a try tomorrow

I think that even if optimizations were tuned to make the flagship's UI smooth, applying the same level of optimization to lower end Exynos devices would not achieve the same result due to the weaker hardware.

For weaker hardware to run smoothly, it would take significantly more effort to fine-tune the optimizations for each specific device. This process would be much harder and more time consuming compared to flagships, which already have top tier hardware.

Simply copying the optimizations down the line is not enough, there must be more to the story.
Yeah but people seem to be saying the phone gets slow over time. Not that it is this way ottb.

I think then the best fix for such behavior then is a factory reset. Say every six months. No?

Yes, I do Factory Rest my Samsung A50s whenever I feel it's too slow or not working as per my wish ;)

if you want to be a safe side, do not buy when any brand launch new phone (let go that 1k or 10% off Bank offers etc.) and let that handset settled with users and within 10-20 days you will get real idea by searching FK & YouTube reviews, none of the brand and phone is perfect for every extra Rs.2000/- they offer something different, just think, if your Aunt requires that or not and stick to your budget.

Be aware that there are some haters for each & Every Brand so be wise and keep eye open to get best bang for your hard earn money.

That is a different issue, some people relate this to the internal storage being close to full causes slowness.

It is, cause after factory reset, if you feel even a slight difference in performance, it can be considered a fix. But things like this shouldn't happen in the first place.

The main issue is that even brand-new entry/mid level phones still lag and jitter occasionally when navigating through the UI and performing different tasks. In my opinion, if a budget phone could solve this problem which no manufacturer has managed to do so far, it would be a game-changer.

We don’t need a high-resolution display, wireless charging, fast charging, NFC, an AMOLED screen (IPS is fine), dual speakers, a high-refresh-rate screen, a fingerprint sensor, a top-tier camera, a big storage capacity, or any other fancy features. We don’t need any of that in budget phone.

All we want is a smooth, lag-free UI with long update support to keep banking apps functional, just enough camera quality for QR payments and readable photos of documents, all in a 10k phone. So far, no manufacturer has been able to deliver this.

My mom is using Poco M4 Pro, it got all the 2+3yrs of updates and it's running smooth. Her use case is very generic like calls & texts, whatsapp, youtube, zoom, camera and music. D6300 in M06 is more powerful than G96 in M4 Pro (based on Antutu score), wouldn't D6300 be enough for light users like my mom or in this case OP's aunt? I don't have first hand experience with One UI, but MIUI/Hyper is heavy and G96 is handling it fine even after 2+yrs.

Actually i don't care what she gets anymore. Keeping the m06 order which she is supposed to receive tomorrow. Tried beyond my best to convince her to get other phones but the attitude i hear when i say oppo vivo etc is disgusting. Dumb phones are made for dumb people. So the m06 is going to its deserving user. Imagine travelling across the country and not having much time for self, but still managing some to do her stuff like preparing cyber crime report and letters to bank etc which takes several hours and at the end of the day all the panpanani behaviour.
Thanks for all the inputs guys really appreciated

At your budget I would strongly suggest the Samsung m35 .
So I always have a cheaper secondary android phone for some Chinese apps and personal preference.
I too initially made the mistake of purchasing some A04 If I recall which was pathetic performance wise and was that xheap at 10k (a series is offline and costlier to m and f series - m is amazon and f is Flipkart specific)
Since then I moved over to m35 which I got at 13k post discount and exchange and it’s truly a good phone - snappy performance , large battery and amoled .

I would stay away from Chinese origin phones - they are prone to bricking even with minor mishaps - eg before my a04 I was using a iqoo z4?? And it bricked after a fall from small height stool table . The repair cost was quoted at 6k. So no more Chinese phones for me after that exp .

Yep. She only trusts Samsung motorola.
In a way i don't blame her. People slam the low end Samsungs. That's how the Moto G got its start in life. Others followed. Low end phones that worked smoother or didn't slow down. But are they reliable or will they just die on you one day? That's what she's worried about
This is a very security centric person. Who keeps her 4 digit upi PIN noted down on the mobile phone itself (this is confirmed by her btw). And I'm sure that was on the home screen with some title like my upi PIN as well.
Would a working fingerprint sensor to get into various sites be helpful?

The best use ultrasonic sensors but those are only available on flagships. Others are optical and can problematic enough to not be worth it

She writes these things down because forgetting is a problem. And that can be a bigger problem than security. If her bank finds out they will default refuse to help in case of fraud for violating the T's&C's
