Hey guyz

I'm gonna buy a comp for my cousin (10 yrs).

I've almost decided to get the Athlon II X2 240 but am not able to decide which board to get.

I was thinking of getting the Biostar TA785GE 128M as it has a 128MB sideport.
Are there any more boards which come with a sideport?

As I'll not be getting a GPU, plz suggest some boards with good Integrated gfx (or with a sideport).

As there is little price difference between DDR2 n DDR3, should I go with DDR3 ?? coz m sure they arnt gonna upgrade the PC for another 4 yrs minimum.

Suggest some DDR3 boards too. :)

Is X2 250 worth the extra 500 bucks ?

Can stretch the budget to 8k max.

TIA :D

The cheapest DDRIII mobo that you can get is the MSI EG51~4.5k. So that coupled with a AthlonII X2 240 should cost you 7.5k.

2GB DDRIII Transcend ~ 2.5k

Otherwise if you can strech it i would suggest AthlonIIX3 435~ 3.9k (2.9GHz and 3 cores :D)

The MSI ia also a 785G board(without sideport). Not much of a difference between DDRII and DDRIII as far as performance is concerned. If you are gonna go for 4GB of RAM there will be nothing much to worry about upgradability. I guess for a 10yr old PC a AthlonII+Biostar TA785G board+2GB DDRII will feel a upgrade to a yamaha R1 from a bicycle :p

I'm gonna install 2 GB RAM.

Can the MSI board, i.e. HD4200 without sideport handle latest games at low settings ??

1066 or 1333 MHz ? They come with latency 8..right ??

For gaming its better to have a sideport as it offers 10-15% boost in graphics related work. Plus 4GB is utlilized only when you install a 64-bit OS. For a win7 and normal usage 2GB would suffice for 3-4 years.

X2 240 @ 2.8k

Biostar A785G @ 3.4k

2GB DDR2 800MHz RAM @ 1.8k

Total = 8k

The performance difference from the 128MB in contemporary games is not too gr8 so u can forego it....

This will provide decent gaming..too
