Beginner
My friends is planning to buy a graphics card.

He has a

1. Intel Core 2 Duo 2.93

2. Intel Chipset mobo (not sure whether G31/G41)

3. DDR2 2GB RAM

His budget is within range of 3 to 5k.

----------------------------------------------

One more query.

I'm planing to buy a AMD Athlon X4 processor based config. I have a nVidia 6200 256mb GPU.

Can I use this card in my AMD X4 processor and supported board.

I will buy the DX11 card in 2 months time.

Mention ur friend's PSU.

Suggestion:-

VTX3D HD4670 1GB GDDR3 @ 4.3k

FOr you.... Well the onboard HD4200 that you'll get with a 785G mobo(if u buy that) with the Athlon II X4 is more powerful than a 6200, so u can get rid of the old GPU.

I'm not sure abt his PSU but he got a Cabinet for around 1k.

K until I get my new GPU can I use my old GPU(6200) also. Will the board support?

Suggest few board which are compatible with AMD Athlon X4. Price within 5k

yes, until u dont get ur new GPU you can use ur 6200 with that board if it(ur GPU) has pcie interface. but as cmpaddict has already mentioned, there is no point using 6200 as the onboard 4200 is more powerfull than 6200.:)

Is ur 6200 PCIe? I'm telling you sell of ur 6200 HD4200 is much more powerful...

For ur friend, well I guess he has a generic 400W PSU... well in that case, I suggest this:-

Sapphire HD5570 1GB GDDR3 @ 4.6k

THis card performs at par with HD4670, only consumes lesser power so it's a safer bet.
