well we have twin houses both with OTIS. Manual doors, its quiet good... but getting service from OTIS is a pain... they want to charge us commercial rates!! anyway OTISis the No 1 lift company since 1861... i would go for an OTIS, our lift is amazing, 6 persons 408KG, 5 floor house...

Jeez, people actually have lifts in their houses..
Makes me realise how poor I am.

Cmon.. a lift is no so bad.. he's got elderly people.. now if he were to ask for an escalator in the building... lol.. THAT would be too much :P

Be warned Mitsubishi elevators are priced sky high. They don't make small ones either. The entire Microsoft campus in redmond has only Mitsu elevators :P. Would probably be a few hundred in number.

They do have a a Home Elevator !
But then availability may be a problem...

Schindler .. best option.. also if you check all new constructions today.. all of em having Schindler in them.
Their quotation is higher by 2Lacs just for automatic doors..:@
They probably thought we'l go for it since they were the only ones who hav automatic doors in small car sizes..

My dad used to own the Omega Elevators franchise in Pune, so I spoke to him. He asked me to ask you, have you thought of the risks of lift failure? Automatic doors is a bad idea for homes/bungalows. What if no ones is at home and the lift fails? What about no power? Is there going to be regular good usage? Do you have servants/guards who would pay attention during power cuts, possible lift failiures? Can you imagine how claustrophobic it would be in a automatic door lift, with absolutely no light pouring in during power cuts/faiiues? Much worse for oldies as you said.

yes automatic doors are a bad idea and require maintainance, we can manually hand crank our lift by releasing the brakes in the event of a power failure. so its quiet good :)

i am constructing a building right now. have a total of 7 floors. one lift is manual and one is automatic. brand i got is EROS. OTIS is the most hopeless of the lot avoid. they invented it and not they do not know how to make basic things even. automatics cost a lot because ultimately the lifts are same but the door mechanism is installed on each floor and is imported and hence expensive. my home is going to be a duplex and for internal we were planning a lift as well. but the cost of the same is 3 and 6 laks. 3 laks for machine lift and 6 laks for non machine lift. problem is the way my house is built we dont have enough clearance for the stairs. so as of now i am NOT getting internal lift and trying for stairs. lets see. ill pm u a number of a company later on i dont have it here. have a word. dont go into brands get a custom one made. parts ultimately are given by the same company. i can tell u this cuz my uncle is one of them who makes lift parts that one else here does.

Well in case of power failure, we're planning to include a powerbackup, it'l be good enough to slowly make the lift go down to the next lower level and open..

There'l be people all day..
We're planning to include an intercom node in the lift too..

As for lift failure, KONE people assure us there'l be no problem as there'l be regular monthly maintenance, also the response time is abt half hr to 1 hr..:D

Load shedding is still 4hrs or more..

Does any one have idea about the amount of maintenance charged by these lift companies??

Bumpp

We are almost on finalizing, Took a demo of schindler lift and KONE one too, found the schindler one much better..

But the problem is the guy isnt going below 6.62:((with automatic doors) while Kone is ~5L without automatic doors..

The problem is im in nagpur, and we're really thinking out hard, because in a lift, its the servicing that matters, And since schindler has only a few lifts installed, we're skeptical..:(

Do PM me the phone number..

Also, is there difference in the cost of an assembled lift and a non assembled one? how much?

And who takes care of the service part? How much do you think the maintenance of a lift should cost?

Okie we're getting a rescue device along with the lift, can you ask your dad if not having a v3f(power saving device) wil give problems?
We're not installing it since the lift wont be used a lot..
