Bhai log,

Suggest me a "smart phone" around 10-12k which should have these features:
  • GPRS (EDGE optional)
  • Bluetooth
  • InfraRed
  • FM (MP3 optional)
  • Camera (min. 1MP)
  • Expandable memory slot

Looks like I'm closing towards these:
  • Nokia 3230
  • Nokia 6600
  • SE 700i
  • SE 750i
So, here arise the greak Nokia :ashamed: SE confusion. Suggest me a way out.

PS: Anybody having some idea of Delhi prices?

Yeah i suggest you 6630, my uncle has it and its awesome mobile, i could reccomended you a k700i, but only negative point is no memory slot. Though FM is not available in 6630 , u can get a seprate FM tuner for around Rs.100 or so;) (in ritchie street a FM with tourch is available for Rs.135/-)

since u are asking for a smartphone,u can rule out Se K700 and k750i....

I think 3230 will suit u just fine, even though 6630 is overall a better buy-better cam, better proccy and better OS, just to name a few.

One piece of advice: Never even think of going in for the 3230. You'll keep wondering for the rest of your life how you ever came to convince yourself to buy such a huge piece of shit.

Go for the Nokia 6630, its got loads of features and is better in all aspects than every other contender in its price segment. Price is 12.7 k with bill here at my local dealer. It should be pretty much around the 13k mark price nationwide, I guess.

Thanks for your advices and words of "wisdoms" :)

One thing which is buggin me in 6630 is absense of any (writeable) Office application which I could use on the move via GPRS. I know it got QuickOffice, but I guess I can't create a new file over it, right?

Has anybody tried EDGE over 6630, can it be a substitute to my current 128kpbs connection @ home?

Guys, the bargain day is tommorow morning, so please pour in with more word of wisdom. :)

6630 3230 all crap..k750 was awesome till mine got stolen :(

get a 6230i. 1.3MP, radio, mp3, slot, radio....EVERYTHING! And smaller, lighter than all that 6630 crap. Its only 99grams!! see gsmarena! im not lying!

6230i is series 40 platform, has become obsolete, i think the platform has even been discontinued, 6230i was the last one.
one advtg of 6230i is it has stereo playback :)

You mention class 10, but then say speed is 118 kbps...
Nokia's site mentions:
WCDMA* maximum download link 384kbps; upload link 128kbps, EGPRS (Class B, Multislot class 10) - Maximum download 236.8kbps; upload 118.4kbps
So the speed u mentioned is upload, not download

Well, I don't know abt him, but I am definitely buying this phone in Second half of Dec

yes, i was right :)
here's some useful info for you
If you feel like conquering the world, the phone provides you with mobile data transfers. The maximum speed to be reached by using the GPRS technology Class 10 is 80 kbps. As for EDGE, it is Class 5 with a maximum downlink of 118.4 kbps. The odd thing here is that EDGE can be used for downloading only - a limitation, which Nokia mentions on its web site.

to ease it for everyone here's a side by side comparison of 3230 vs 6630

well well actually my friend, S40 is not at all out. Some of the mst expected phones frm nokia like 6270,6280 and 7370 are all based on 40th platform...
This time around it is much improved and is like the UI in SE phones.

morever 7370 has a better screen then D600,and that tells a lot abt this nokia...

6280 is comin with 640*480 video at 15 fps and qvga at 30 FPS.

S40 is back dudes.

have to agree with you, technically its not all out, but they are based on series 40 3rd edition, so not the same as 6230i(s40 2nd edition).

here's the gist of s40 3rd edition from nokia
The new Series 40 Platform 3rd Edition delivers an advanced mobile experience to consumers and the biggest opportunity to mobile developers. With support for 240 x 320-pixel screens, Series 40 Platform 3rd Edition delivers new APIs that allow developers to create more appealing applications with higher perceived value.

Series 40 Platform 3rd Edition extends J2ME support, implements CLDC 1.1 and MIDP 2.0, and expands on the provision of messaging, mobile media, and Bluetooth technology APIs with support for FileConnection and personal information manager (PIM) (JSR 75), as well as Mobile 3D Graphics (JSR 184).

The Series 40 Platform 3rd Edition provides MMS support that is compliant with OMA MMS v1.2.
The Series 40 Platform 3rd Edition supports streaming audio in Adaptive Multi-Rate Wideband (AMR-WB) and Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) formats, and video in H.263 format.
