Hello everyone, I'm finally getting rid of most of my current rig (good riddance!) ....

Intel Pentium D 925
XFX 630i
Dynet 1gb DD2 @ 667Mhz
Gigabyte 8800GT OC
Corsair VX450

I'm looking for the best VFM Processor+Motherboad+RAM in 18k (max 20k). I don't game much but I do tinker around in 3DS Max a bit. I don't have any particular inclination towards AMD or Intel ..... I want what performs best in my budget :lol:

As of now this is what I've got in mind. Please help me by suggesting better guys- :)
Core i5 655K - 11.4k
Gigabyte GA-P55-US3L Motherboard - 6.3k
CORSAIR XMS3 2GB 1333Mhz - 3k
I'm also open to 2nd hand offers. (Esp in the RAM Department) .....

Gigabyte GA-P55-US3L Motherboard - 6.3k You can also consider Asus P7H55

CORSAIR XMS3 2GB 1333Mhz - 3k Always try to get a pair of sticks since running rams in dual channel brings considerable differences in performance. As you are ready to buy second hand rams so start hunting for a kit of 2 rams in market section.

4GB DDR3 1333 Mhz - 4.5K - 5K
The 1055T is only 10% slower than the i7 930 in 3ds max. Superb value for money :)

Is that so? I thought that the i5 665K once OC'd would make a better deal than the i5 760.

Another i5 760 suggestion. So I guess I'll stick to the I5 760 then. How much is the P7H55?

Good idea about the RAM. But perhaps buying this stick for now is a good idea and buying a similar stick later on wouldn't be so bad either.....

Hmmm then AMD rig doesnt so bad then. Also can I get 4Gb DDR3 in 4.5k - 5k?

+1 for x6 1055T + Gigabyte 880GM-UD2H if you're into 3dsmax.

As for the RAM, I'm not sure if there has been any drastic drop in the rates, but 4.5-5k sounds like the rates for Corsair value RAM and not XMS3. Check local rates and go for them accordingly. If its out of budget then you can for 2gb XMS3 now and add a similar stick later but even I'd recommend extending ur budget just a little to adjust for 4gb dual channel sticks :)

Anyways I drove around Ahmedabad all evening and went hunting for the parts and boy was it a disaster! They were many fancy shops who sold nothing but Intel; they hadn't even heard of AMD Dragons and refused to sell any motherboard that wasn't branded by Intel. Apparently, Intel has brainwashed them into buying i5 750+(insert-crappy-Intel-Motherboard-name-here) combos and they refuse to break the combo and sell only processor; even if they did break the combo and sell processor only they were selling it at astronomical rates (13.5k @ i5 750 :O)

I'm not even going to post the Intel rig here (its so outrageously high!) ..... but I got this ok-ish quote for the AMD rig-
AMD X6 1050T - 11,340
Gigabyte 880GM-UD2H - 5,460

Can someone from Ahmedabad help me out by suggesting me a reasonable dealer in Ahmedabad. I'd like to try my local options first as mom isn't too enthusiastic of ordering stuff online (had a bad exp with a dealer -who happens to be on TE too- a while back :no:) ....

Sunny27 is trying to get me the 1055T for 10.5k which is good enough for me and I might be buying his 2-3 day old 785GMT from him for around 5.5k. However, still trying to stuff this all in 15k...

I'm saving the remaining 5k for RAM. Any particular 2*2gb RAM I should get in 5k?

Congrats on ur new pc! Went with the OT and got him a nice amd x6 1055+gigabyte 880gm-usb3 board @ 16k.
 
yeah haven't assembled it yet. Benchmarking my old rig first .... then will assemble the new one :D

PS - Looking out for RAM
 
^^did the ram work properly? what fsb did it get detected at? use my ocz ram till u get a pair of good ones. and get a good cabinet as well. i can give u my gigabyte.
 
Still haven't assembled it yet. Still benchmarking the old computer .... No man you've helped me more than enough.
