Suggest a software to take a scrolling screen screenshot

Hi Guys,

I have a few directories which have like 600 or 700 files in it. So I need to scroll 4-5 times to take complete screenshots when I want to have it sent to a friend.

I used snagit for a few days but it gave me a lot of error and was just not able to take scroll screenshots (without errors)

Can anyone please suggest a software with the help of which I can take the screenshots

Can't you just take multiple screenshots using the default snipping tool in windows 7?
Also I think windows 7 has some sort of screenshot taking software (part of OS) wherein It takes a screen shot every time you click mouse button. And finally all are saved in word file or something like that.

Nah man...I need a single screenshot...not multiple images
Also, dont wanna join them manually as well

So I need a tool which can do it for me... Paid software is not an issue as well,.

If all you want is a list of files and folders in the directories, then you should consider a directory printer software, rather than taking a screenshot, which is not the right way to go about it. You can use these directory printers, which I found quite good.

DirHtml: http://dirhtml.home.comcast.net/~dirhtml/
Snap2HTML: http://www.rlvision.com/snap2html/about.asp

If you still want to take screenshot, then PicPick and Screenshot Captor both have that option to capture scrolling window.

Thanks ....Will try both the below out. I wanted a Screencapture software only.

BTW: thanks for the directory printer software as well...I need to check if the suggested software has the capability to give only directory names and sizes within it

Snap2HTML will provide you with Directory names and sizes. However, it will provide you with the file names and sizes in the directories too. There aren't any options to customize the output. However, it will provide you with the directory names and sizes, if that's what you want, and won't be bothered by other details that come with the report.

But with the redundant data ....the list will be humongous.
I have 600 directories - 800 subdirectories and 10000 files. I just need the 600 directories with the size info and thats the reason I chose screencapture

If you are using Windows, you will notice that Windows does not tell the directory size in the explorer window. So, if you take screenshot, you are not going to get the directory size, unless you are using some kind of explorer add-on which shows the directory size.

So, if you want just directory names, then you can take a screenshot. Or, as someone suggested in an earlier post, you can just use the command line, and output the folder list to a text file.

If you want directory names and sizes, then Snap2HTML will do the job for you, and it's fast in preparing the report. 600 directories is a lot, but still it shouldn't take much time.

Just try both methods and see what output you get, and which method gets the job done. You have nothing to lose in trying both methods. It's not going to take much time, and you are only going to learn in the process.
