Hi,

I am looking for a Download rig, can be anything an ATOM or a AMD, I need it to be very small should be a little bigger than a sub woofer.

I saw the Wipro AMD net-tops, i am looking for something similar, but it should better than the config that was offered. Also it should be upgradeable.

Any Ideas?

i suggest a amd fusion based net top.

very small form itx and quite cost effective,

110 usd for motherboard cpu combo.

^ its only available as pre order. No i don't want to go for either the Dockstar or go flex net.

Is Asus Eee Box B202 available here? & at what price?

Scratch that Eee Box is available for 17k at anythinginit.com

BTW I have a 2GB DDR2 RAM + Gigabyte GA-MA785GM Motherboard with me.. can it fit in a very small cabinet?

I think this is the best bet -- TheITWares - One Stop for all Gizmos!MSI E350IA-E45 AMD Zacate E350 (1.6GHz, dual core) AMD Hudson M1 Mini ITX Motherboard/CPU Combo.

Throw in a 2GB 1333 MHz RAM stick to the fray TheITWares - One Stop for all Gizmos!G-skill F3-10600CL9S-2GBNT AMD 790 Series - TheITWares and you should have a competent home-download-office RIG. Plus a Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 should cap the storage needs TheITWares - One Stop for all Gizmos!Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST3500418AS 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive - TheITWares + a decent SMPS like the FSP Saga II 350W -- TheITWares - One Stop for all Gizmos!FSP Saga II 350W Power Supply - TheITWares.

Cabinet choose any local manufacturer like Zebronics, I-Ball at your own discretion. Hope this helps. The standard cabinet size allows up-gradation to a better graphic card like AMD HD 5670 a painless process as well as putting in a ATX-based RIG also in the loop and the FSP SMPS is better than getting local crap like Mercury, Intex etc. and will serve you longer, better.

The AMD Zacate outperforms the Intel Nano's on every count -- Bench - CPU - AnandTech :: Your Source for Hardware Analysis and News

^ The internal configuration is not an issue as long as its upgradeable, my only main concern is size of the cabinet. I need the smallest one, as i don't have space to store the cabinet + give it power, if the option is there to run it on DC Adapter then its even better

^^

Why don't you go to Lamington road and see what you can dig-up. You'll get a better in-depth look at the offers you want, we can only suggest so much here on TE.

In India its really hard to find mini-itx mobos and if u somehow manage it u won't find a proper cabinet,PSU(pico-itx).now the only option left is to buy a small cabi from iball, zebronics and put ur
BTW I have a 2GB DDR2 RAM + Gigabyte GA-MA785GM Motherboard with me
into that.

amd APU r highly overpriced.

Did anyone have a look at the Xtreamer Ultra specs.. I think its awesome for an HTPC and config is great as well.

xtreamer ultra is expensive and it is a HTPC.

Assembling a nettop will prove expensive. 2000 for the mini factor chassis. 1000 something for the 12v power adapter. 3000 for the atom MB. 1500 for the ram. That's around 8000. If you blow up the 80v power supply inside the chassis, you'll have to run around the market for weeks looking for replacement cause they're very hard to find.

Ditch those dreaded mini-itx boards and get a netbook.

A good download rig i would suggest is a samsung n148 or a 150 netbook. 10 inches. 1024*600 resolution. 30watts max :) Low power computing for web surfing and downloading. The atom processor has no fan(passive cooling) so you won't hear a peak even at 3am in the night. Nor will your bedroom get hot due to heat dispensation. And their portable.

I think mediahome or dvdstoredelhi is selling these netbooks for 13.5k something in the dealers section.

I think i haven't made it very clear in my first post, will update it now, But i am not looking for a exact Configuration for the download rig, Believe me i am pretty sure what i want. What I was trying to ask is that i need a small cabinet, not the Mirco-ATX cabinets but Mini-ITX. Hence I specifically mentioned that it shouldn't be any larger than a Sub-Woofer.
