Hi,

Guys I am tired of having a separate amp and Floor standers, for the PC. They gonna be sent home now. And really its not a neat solution for PC audio, when we have decent Active Speakers nowadays.

My requirement is very varied though, from Movies, Gaming, to Various music genres like Soft rock, Pop, even Hindi and mostly Psy-Trance. I am not looking for anything too base heavy but like warmer consistent sound with a good mid range and clear highs. I am not looking for something very loud as it will be on my desk, (I have the AMP setup if I need to go loud) but it should still have some "Thump" for gaming while on the desk, and Clarity is of the utmost importance.

My budget is 25-30K MAX, but that doesn't mean I have to go and pick something which is near the top of my budget. I am happy with ofcourse spending much less if it satisfies me, and my requirement.

I have auditioned the AudioEngine A5's and found them better than average to my ears, and don't mind them. I have seen some of the ADAM Audio as well, the ADAM though seem very nice are really crossing my budget though. If I find nothing decent then I will take the A5's eventually. Infact since I don't need much volume I don't even mind the A2's but I have to audition them and see how their imaging is and how the lower end frequency resonse is on the A2's compared to A5's, though ofcourse it will be less than the A5's.

Can you guys please recommend me some setups to audition. I am in no hurry as I understand me auditioning them will take its own time.

Thanks a lot for all the help.
Have a great weekend.

:)

^^ I saw the KRK's I somehow didn't appeal to me. Though I have read good things about 'em.

Aktimate Mini I ahve no idea about I will surly look into them...Are they even available here???

Adam A3x is within your budget.

The m-Audio BX5a would be around the 30k mark too, and pretty nice. Both off bajaao.com

There is also a pair of Genelecs with some tradeoffs.

And finally there is the option of just keeping what you have. Somehow PC speakers sound very tinny compared to a separates-based system, and active speakers (good ones) need two power connections, not really simplifying cabling in any way.

Cranky Sir : Exactly what I am looking at : Adam A3x and the m-Audio BX5a. Are really also what I am looking at. Think I will audition them first though, and for that I will have to be in Mumbai i believe,. maybe next weekend or something, I didn't plan anything this weekend yet so I willbe in Pune for this one. Any preference among the two A3X and Bx5a. :)

I thought of keeping my setup too but my AVR is getting Ancient really I dont even know how old it is 15 years or more :) Its Harman Kardon AVR 15 so its really old, but it does decent. I really just wanna give this away for the living room or something, No Place on my desk either for the AVR either.

@Infected

Yes

Alliance Four Hi End Audio

thanks a lot for the link, unfortunately it is blocked from work, will look at up in a few hours once home, btw. any idea how expensive they would be?

Do you guys think that the A2's would be sufficient for gaming, and movies, if we forget music for the time being....???

@Infected

Please give Aktimate Mini a listen before making any decision. Now just to inform u a little:

Aktimate Mini is a speaker from well known UK brand in hi-fi audio "Epoz", It has a class A/B built in Amp from the brand "Creek" with 120W of Toroidal Power Transformer. It's a total of 80W RMS powered Speakers. Audio Engine A5 has no competition to Epoz Aktimate Mni.

If ur main priority is gaming with space constraint so why don't u buy multimedia speakers having separate sub-woofer?

^^ Intriguing :)

....but do you know for how much?

For 499 euro thay are way over the budget buddy...Thats what I saw em listed for....

Ok will do so...will call em and check and hopeflly audition them as well soon.

But if they are not very bulky I can even get them sourced from the US. I have enough colleagues coming in from there every month, but they gotta be not so big, ( else I will have to contact a friend who works for some charted airlines or something :) ).

^^ I think I am just gonna pick up the AudioEngine A2's. Yeah, and save a lot of money for once. M gonna keep the FS and the Amp for my HT setup and move em away form the comp. So I dont really need a lot of power now. I thought of the A5's and others mentioned but really they will be too big for a desk IMHO, next to a PC monitor. Don't you guys think thats a better option for strictly PC Desk speakers? Good enough to game, and listen to some music in the room. Just that the priority is on the clarity or SQ and not power :)

What do you guys think...m I thinking ok...?

Which FS and AMP u have?

@Infected

May I know your name please?

AVR's are not gud for music generally don't do gud for stereo speakers, and that too 20 year old AVR. I think you should sell ur AVR and get the stereo AMP and I don't know how gud ur Onkyo speaker but Onkyo's have generally bright sounding signature.

I made the biggest mistake of picking up the **** Onkyo's and when I had the choice of Polks TSi300 I believe for the same!!!

Very bad mistake on my part. I have blow the tweeters twice and got em replaced in warranty but now I am fed up of 'em.

I'll sell it but I dont even know how much to ask, so ask even.

I got the onk's for 19K, I dont even mind 10K now :) and the AVR no clue at all...

PLease suggest...

What m thinking is to leave the HT for now and get desktop speakers and Stereo, I dont want surround, I have the Xonar ST for my output.

So A2's good enough for my room?

NAME :) Ritesh Sharma ( or Nanu )....and you are? are you on hifi as well username there is 'Nanu'?

@Infected

ok Mr. Ritesh, I am Abhishek aka Abhi, Well past is past which is not in our hands so let the AVR and Polks do their job and from what I know Polk's TSi series tends to show bright sound but anyways.....

now u can buy powered bookshelves, well A2's have gud bass according to it's size, I can say better bass than it's size with a little or very little mid-bass bump and it has an amazing vocals without any coloration, it's a very neutral sounding speakers. You can go for it without any hesitation if u want small speakers so it's an excellent option :)
