Use a IDE <--> SATA converter, its the best as of now. Else you could get a VIA RAID card with IDE support. #Nishu had bought one 2 months back, I believe. However, booting from the drive is not 100% guaranteed:(

And, how did it spoil your old motherboard?

For me, booting with the converters worked! Have not checked with the IDE add in card, though.

Ya i used the converter it worked fine for a day or two but it failed to boot my drive after that.

So the best thing to do is to sell the IDE drive and buy the SATA one.

Else give it a shot, get a IDE converter which costs like <200. RS and try your luck.

bought MSI H67MA-E35 B3 mobo .. used covnerter .. as expected mobo stopped working after 2hrs.

Going for repair/exchange tomorrow and will buy SATA HDD.

What a time waste....

Well, I have a small confession to make. I have SATA HDD drives, but an IDE ODD drive with which I have used the converter. That worked perfectly, but i felt that the setup was not nice and went for an add in card. That has worked well and still does. I burnt several discs ~ 5 DVDs in an hour at max speed.
