Hi guys,

Seems we have many tech gurus here who can help with my current situation..

I have a budget of 30k and I'm in the market for a new gaming rig. I wanna play the newest & latest games, and yes, I know the budget is pretty dismal:( But, this is what I have to make do with for now.

I already have the following items:

Viewsonic 17" Flat CRT
WD Caviar Green Power 500GB HDD 32mb Cache (brand new)
Logitech Deluxe Desktop Keyboard & Mouse set

I'll be playing at 1024x768 24bit res.

I just want the following items in order of importance :

GRAPHICS CARD
POWER SUPPLY
RAM
PROCESSOR
MOTHERBOARD
CASE

Currently I'm leaning towards this setup..

Palit HD4850 512 - 10.5k
POV Black Diamond 500w - 3k
Corsair 2GB DDR2 800 XMS2 x 2 - 4k
E7300 C2D 2.66 - 6k
MSI P45 Neo - 5.5k
Odyssey 2006 (big spacious n solid case - 1k
2 x 120mm intake & exhaust w/o smps)

Total 30k

What do u think of this setup? Is this ok? Or else, please suggest what would give me the best possible bang for buck in my limited budget.

thanks in advance.

Viky

you are leaning in right way..:P

i'd suggest Corsair VX450W @ 3.4k

look out for Palit 4850 Sonic Edition..

You can go for a G31 mobo and spend the saved cash towards a corsair vx450. Rest all looks good :D I don't know about that particular cabinet. Just check how it compares with the zebronics bijli.

look out for Palit 4850 Sonic Edition..

Corsair VX450 has a single +12v rail with total 33A and a single 6pin Power Connector
POV 500W has dual +12v rails with total 33A and twin 6pin Power Connectors

and is still cheaper by a small amount:huh:

no 'edit' button:huh:

I don't know what's happening, but for last few days threads are popping up all over the place: people asking about SMPS in Gaming thread and seeking help on configurations in graphics card thread?

Bah, it's so annoying. :@

just i would prefer

mobo ASUS P5K PL CM 2.8K ........very good board for price ,n also has good OC features .

CORSAIR 450VX 3.9K

palit 4850 sonic edition 12K / PALIT 4850 ~9.5k

CORSAIR XMS2 2*2GB 3.8K / get G.SKILL SUPER PI frm. KMD

dunno what max output of the POV one bt vx450 can output upto 548W n also comes with 5yrs warranty. very reliable n efficient.

4850 sonic overkill for a 17" CRT , get 4830 for 8k and spend rest on a decent cabby . get Gigabyte G31M-S2L + E7300 + VX450 .

Go with the following for a better experience IMHO :

CPU : Core 2 Duo E6550 Rs.7500/-

MOTHERBOARD : MSI P45 Neo Rs.5550/-

GFX : PALIT ATI 4850 512mb Rs.9550/-

RAM : Gskill PI Rams Newegg.com - G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory Rs.3150/-

PSU : Corsair VX450W Rs.3800/- (if you cant afford corsair then go for cooler master Extreme Power 460W Rs.2400/-)

CaABINET : Zebronics Bijli Rs.900/- + 200 (extra 120mm fan)[ good spacious and cool]

A 4870 for a 17" crt? Really?

The remaining config looks cool. Drop the gfx to a 4850, upgrade psu to vx450. See if you can fit in a better mouse, controller (depending on the games you want to play).

And yes, start saving up for a monitor upgrade :)

Only suggestion i would give is get a good psu Corsair 450VX and rest of the rig as others have suggested.

cm 460W wid HD4870 .. :S n that too future proof??!!

^^ U need min of Corsair 450VX or to be future proof invest in 620TX or HX series.

As the OP is having 17" monitor and he will play on 1024x768 resolution,,,I think 4850 would suffice(infact overkill for that resolution) and investing money on good PSU is always a wise decision. :bleh:

^^Hey smarta$$

if u hv anything better plzz suggest then

so u think

HD4870 n cm extremepower 460W is a gud combination?

that psu is nt enough for even 4850

unless u just want it to idle all the time...

LOL my friend runs a Sapphire 4870 1gb ddr5 card on a Glacialtech 500w PSU...which costed him <2k and it's relli sad if this cant run the same card....and he wont keep tht 17" CRT forever.....:bleh:
