^^ ygpm....

Ok so that vodafone guy did come to my home for the demo. I thought it would be the USB broadband but it turned out to be a 3G USB stick which can house a SIM card. It is a 3G ready USB modem but currently because of lack of 3G it can only connect to EDGE network of vodafone which translates into pathetic net speed.
Paying upfront 1750 for modem and 650 bucks a month for GPRS/EDGE per month is very steep.

Oh dear :( so the speed was way to slow ?

^^ See the speeds depend on proximity of the tower but at my home the speeds never reached more than 80 kbps..yes small b. I thought i will do a speedtest but the speedtest website would not open :@

In short useless for me..

Now i have talked to my owner to see if BSNL can be done or not. I hope BSNL thing goes through.

Btw can anyone tell me what are the costs involved in getting a BSNL connection assuming i will be getting the 750 rs / 256 kbps UL plan.

I do have telephone point at my home but am not sure if it works and so does the owner, she too does not know :S

I heard there is one ISP in Pune who gives internet over WiFi! I will let you know tomorrow :P Again they have limited connectivity, but I think its there in Aundh.

I think you stay in a rented place, move out and find a building which has Airtel

^^ Lol...my roomie says the same :P

But finding a new rented apartment in aundh at reasonable rate is simply impossible.

Do provide me the details. I have had called Tikona ppl and put my number on their IVR system but they have still not got in touch with me.

The most stupid part is that Airtel is there is in my lane but on the front (road side) buildings only and not 150 meters away where my building is there :@

Now as is said, the last option is BSNL if cost is something all roomies are happy with. BSNL Aundh exchange is like 2 minutes walk from my home.

Get reliance wimax.
They will install an antenna on the terrace and thats it.
The speeds will depend on the proximity of the tower.

Installation charge of rs 500 only (incluing modem, wiring, etc)

Can you provide me any contact info or anything regarding this ??
I am not able to find much information on internet on this. :S

Call 02030337777 and talk with their customer care executive.
There are two options:
Wimax: installation of an antenna on the terrace.
I am paying 1100 for 400kbps unlimited.

Broadnet: Direct line
Cost is about 830 for 400kbps unlimited.

I asked the reliance CC and they told that in wimax only one plan of 1000 kbps speed is available which costs 2199 + taxes :@

For wired they say that my area is not feasible.

did you chk with Tata indicom?

Thats what I have been using since I moved to Pune

Plans are slightly more expensive than Airtel but the quality of service is pretty decent

Am paying 1750/- for 750/1.5mbps (sundays and 10PM-10AM) unlimited

OMFG. Send me your number right now in pm :P County is coming next wed and we MAY meet on the sunday of next week :P If everything goes right that is XD
