Hi all..

I'm Shifting to A. narayanapura, Bangalore.

Suggest any wired braodband plans for home usage.

Speed: 500-800 Kbps.

Monthly budget: 1000 max.

FUP: Not needed never...

Prefered connection: Anybody without frequent outages.

Other: WiFi modem free or as option.

pls guys, help me out...

But those buggers (BSNL) are saying, Lines and connections are limited and they need to upgrade cables etc.. etc..

Need to get the details deeply to get them on their throat...

I'm looking for a non FUP connection in B'lore, JP Nagar. Was using Airtel 512Kbps Unlimited plan until recently, but have been unhappy in the past few months since they've enforced a FUP. Whats the idea of a limit in an "unlimited" plan ? :@

I've heard that BSNL offers unlimited plans without FUP. Can someone please confirm ? Any other ISPs that offer non-FUP unlimited plans?

@OP
Sorry about hijacking your thread. Didnt want to create a new one since your post was pretty close to what even I was looking.

FUP - Fair Usage Policy

Definition: It is a crap devised by ISPs (most of them) to turn new and existing "Unlimited" plans into "Limited Data" plans by limiting the data transfer amount to some ridiculous value, and restricting the bandwidth ones the data cap is reached.

Reliance is not too bad with their 600kbps unlimited at 650 pm

Hmm. So is this a non FUP plan? (ie they dont slow your connection after you've downloaded certain limit )

Also, could you please give a roughand idea of how much GB you download in a month ?

Yeah, BSNL seems to be the best with no FUP at all, i have 2MBPS, UL with no FUP at all for 1350/- I download more than 100GB per month:p

Outages are there, occasionally..maybe once in 4-5 months or so...they repair it within a day or so...the tagline "BSNL ::best hai mere liye": works perfectly for me, am a happy customer from the past 5 years, right when it started:ohyeah:

Do they still have the 2mbps 1350 plan ??

couldn find it anywhere

Reliance 600 kbps at 650 ?? LOL dude yu gotta be kidding me. Jus 2 days ago i called up reliance and dey said tat its 1500 for 600 kbps.!

I think BSNL has a 20GB cap and the speed reduces to 512kb not sure on the speed part but sure that speed reduces....If possible look for Railwire ISP they provide 2 mbps no FUP being using that for a month and works good no down time..2mbps pricing is arnd 1800

Yeah, strange..can't find it on website tariff plans. I suggest you visit the nearest BSNL broadband center and ask for the existing tariff and confirm. They *may* have some tariff's not listed on the website.

There is no FUP. I download about 100-150 GB/month I guess. The download is not too much as I use the same connection for my day job AND online business. LOL. Pretty good customer service too.

--- Updated Post - Automerged ---

They have a combo offer for 750 which is 600 kbps during day and 1 mbps at night(My current plan). All unlimitred with no FUP. They also have a 1mbps unlimited for 1100 I guess. Going to upgrade to that this month as my company will be paying my internet plan ;)
