suggest cheapest routers

Which ISP broadband connection do you have? Cause afaik most ISP's now give routers/modems for sale too.Atleast my ISP airtel does.It costs around 2-3k if i'm not wrong. The ADSL router to be precise.
As far as buying from the various brands like dlink, netgear available I'm not aware of the rates.
But incase you have a spare machine or willing to sacrifice one of your machines you have at present you could setup a windows 2003 server specifically for routing purposes i.e that machine will do the job of a router for you.Keep in mind it has its pros & cons as does everything.I really didnt want to provide alternatives but thought this might help someone someway.

Thanx for the reply man, I might go for BSNL broardband service (still undecided).
I do have a spare PC (skt-7 k6-2 550, 128mb ram and 20gb hdd) and make it a logical router using w2k, but the real prob is:
1. First that old PC has to run 24/7
2.Me and my brother stay in separate flats, if i have configured a PC to act as a router, in my flat, and if that pc encounters a prob (hangs or firewall prob. or ....)
and i m not there & my flat is LOCKed. then ............ NO INTERNET for my brother.
and visa-versa.....

So that's why we decided to use a router.
1 more question,
1. if i buy a router-modem fr bsnl, will BSNL guys will it configure for me ?
2. or i myself can configure it (no idea abt routers, but learn, by doing some googling)

Thanx in-advance

Yes thats true, the machine acting as a router will have to be on 24/7 or whenever you or your brother need internet connectivity.
But with a standalone router device thats not the case, this is the right option imho.
As far as your questions go,

1.The BSNL technical people should configure it for you since you are getting it from them if thats the case.
2.I can assist you if you want me to.

P.S:Where do you stay? If you stay near or around my city I'll configure it for ya.
