one of my friend is returning from us so i was searching for stuff worth getting from there,so finally decided to get good headphones. I have an ipod 80gb and do most of my listening on the way to office .. and right now i own ep-630 and they are doing their job brilliantly.I dont have so called audiophiles golden ears but few days back i took a demo of bose headphones with qc3 and i was bowled away by the clarity of sound and thump of the bass. Only thing that stopped me was the price , it was freakin 21k bucks wtf!!But now i checked that qc2 one has got better reviews and is costing just 135$ 299$ and Audio-Technica ATH-ANC7 also competes well .. its got better noise cancellation but slightly inferior sound (according to amazon.com customer reviews) and costs just 94$.So guys please suggest me which one to get .. i have listened to bose ones and found them to my taste ,for audiotechnica cant say coz never tried one ..some1 have any AT cans please comment .. looking for inputs from celebrated golden ears of TE,suggest alternatives too but consider the budget too 100-200$ .. :ohyeah:
edit:read the price for used qc2 ... new ones are selling for 299 :@ so thats outta question now .. so gimme moar option now .. :(
and yeah if someone want to suggest something to get other then headphones .. please do .. but consider this ..
cpu -- have e8400
mobo -- have ip35e
ram 4gb corsair dominator 800mhz
gpu 4870 1gb

and budget max is 200$

honestly saying i wont suggest you to get earbuds or IEM for arnd 200 $ and above..its not really worth that ...get something like NuForce NE 7M for 50 $ for your portable, trust me its more than enough for your portable needs , then spend rest 150 or 200 $ on a good audiophile "headphone" Like Audio technica AD900 or Beyerdynamic DT 880 , yeah they are not the portable ones, but they r really worth the money, while the portable ones arent worth the money.....

thanks for ur suggestion .. i will checkout the reviews of cans u mentioned .. so okey i m gonna ditch the idea of portable cans ..

now now where are chaos dada and sangram when u need them ,.. guys please suggest me something good ..

hey that guide is merely a glorified pricelist .. my point of opening this thread was to get suggestions from audiophiles of TE .. i u wanna help me plz post something on lines of xtr.pwnzor's post, suggest me a can for my budget which u think is the best or something which u own or gonna own ,,

@chaos, sangram,gunman ... where are u guys... :(

as i told you..the best you can get in that budget are

1. Grados SR 225 ( 200 $ )

2. Audio Technica AD 900 ( arnd 180 $ )

3. Audio Technica AD700 ( this is a great buy for 100 $)

going for grado sr80 based on all the glowing reviews for its awesome range and bass .. and they dont cost a bomb ..

now suggest one iem for travelling as i really wanna upgarde from ep630 .. noise isolation is secondary ... primary requirement being sound .. again suggest something vfm .. arnd 50-70$ .. :)

the link I gave was just to provide u wit some options..

my own recommendations for sub$200 budget

IEM : phonak audeo

closed headphone : Denon D1001 (own it and love it), M audio Q40

Open headphone : ATH AD700/900

for bassheads : beyer DT770 pro

I don't think that u can get beyer DT880 for less than 200$, though u might find DT 990 for about the same price

oh and yeah.. if you intend to get yourself IEMs for upto 150 bucks, the Phonak Audeo PFEs come totally recommended.

nothing would beat the Nuforce NE 7M at 50 $ price range......

and Regarding Grados SR80, buy them only if you need them for music alone , coz if you intend to buy the headphone for music, movies and games also, then the AD700 comes up and beats down the SR80 in overall usage with its huge soundstage , superior positional audio and suitable for almost all genres with perfection.

I have an AD700 , and trust me you cant go wrong with it anyday , im upgrading to an AD900 next week
