Looking for an ASDL modem for my BSNL connection.

2MBPS till 6GB and 512KBPS later. Any other info I should provide?

Modem:
budget: cheaper the better. may be within 1-1.5K.

Router:
N300, budget Upto 4K, but cheaper the better, should have USB and support downloading to HDD for torrenting, either stock or via DD WRT/Open WRT/any other firmware.

Usage: should stream 1080p(those 6Gb prints)

3 years warranty preferred

Had a look at N14. As of now, DD WRT support is not there. Neither is open WRT support. However, you could use the built in download manager to do what you need.

I would suggest to go with the N56. Someone is selling the same on TE - you could get that instead.

If you want something from the TP Link stables, the 1043 is the cheapest you can get. Added bonus - Gigabit Ethernet.

I am skeptical about spending 4k on a device without warranty. Its a gamble.

n14 and 1043 seem interesting[DOUBLEPOST=1405329656][/DOUBLEPOST]what about n12? it retails around 3k[DOUBLEPOST=1405362604][/DOUBLEPOST]

There are two versions of this model. Cheaper one with 3dBi antennas & newer one with 5dBi (Replaceable) one that I posted the link for...

Model no. is same but hardware version is different.. Don't know user opinion about it but I prefer 5dBi antennas 'coz of better range..

You are right! and I did not know that there are two versions!

Seems its a good modem/router.

Bought router TP Link MR3420... @vivek.krishnan and @dheerajjotwani have been very very helpful finding me a better router... Many thanks to them :D
Can you check its wifi range?

A friend was asking me to suggest a router for his three storied house. I am think about suggesting a dual antenna router + single antenna router. With intelligent placement, should be good enough to cover whole house.

I have read in the reviews that Tp-Link products do not have good range.

^sure will do. However I am on a holiday and it will take around 10-15 days to get back to home. After that will post range details.

I just saw this. Have a different TP link model.

Out of curiosity, Why didn't you go for modem + router? They last for years, save space.

Getting a new Tata line - its an ADSL line. What router should I get? 2 Mbps UL + UL calling for 1.6K monthly. Plus need another for a friends MTNL line.

@prateekS Which is the best router with max range. Budget not a constraint, but would like to keep it within 3K ideally.
