2. Motherboard - Gigabyte 785GMT-US2H~4.6k/If u want USB3.0 then --> Gigabyte 785GMT-USB3/MSI 880GMA-E45~5.7k (If Gigabyte 880G boards are available then go for them)

For the shop to buy it lots around , main ones - Aashirwad and Golcha , You could check the price upgrades from SP Road (thread) before going to SP , as it would present a rough idea of the street prices atm ,

For the rig -

CPU - AMD Phenom II X2 555BE ~ 5k (becomes a Phenom X4)

Mobo - MSi 880GM ~ 5.5k

Corsair XMS3 DDR3 4GB 1600MHz ~ 5k

HDD - Seagate Barracuda 1TB ~ 3.6k / WD1001FALS ~ 5k

PSU - Corsair VX450 ~ 4k

If you are going with the Seagate barracudda , then you can go with a Corsair 550VX ~5K - this would present a greater number of options on your graphic card upgrade , if you are going to add in additional h/w - Also are you considering to get yourself gaming grade mouse + kb ?

+1 to aashirwad... athlon II X4 635 should be more than sufficient for casual gaming... also get 1333Mhz DDR3 memory as the difference b/w 1333 and 1600 is negligible... Either G-skill/corsair/OCZ...

VX450 should be sufficient for ur rig even with a HD5770 later... :)

Thanks Guys,

Confused with

CPU - AMD AthlonII X3 440 ~ 3.8k/AMD AthlonII X4 635 ~ 5k

or

CPU - AMD Phenom II X2 555BE ~ 5k (becomes a Phenom X4)-- How Successful is the unlock to Quad Core??

Going with DA's suggestion on X4 is a wiser one , the Phenom X2 555BE is a Dual core processor , with about 80% chances of unlocking into a quad , and on a comparitive basis , Athlon X4 635 is a better chip imo. Also going with the 555BE , unlocked into a quad will make you lose its warranty cover. So the suggestion given by DA is far wiser than the 555BE . Also between MD AthlonII X3 440 and AMD AthlonII X4 635 you could go with X4 if you are into some heavily thread applications etc. If not the X3 440 chip is a pretty good choice too . If its very casual gaming , the X3 440 will suffice.

Thanks DarkAngel, l33t, varunversion1 for your suggestions:

I have almost decided on below configuration. Correct me if anything needs to be changed.

Buying Oct 1st week…

1. CPU - AMD AthlonII X4 635

2. Motherboard - USB3.0 --> MSI 880GMA-E45 (or Gigabyte 880G)

3. RAM - Corsair XMS3 4GB kit 1600MHz

Buying This weekend: (Need to keep the system running till next month. Presently Running on Ubuntu live, But without HDD life is pretty hard… :( )

4. PSU - Corsair VX450 (Thanks - I wish that will suffice me for years to come)

5. HDD - 1TB Seagate 7200.12
