Hi Mihir,
It would be helpful if you provide your budget, purposes u intend to use the computer for and if any preferences.
This would allow members to suggest a better and more suiting Machine for you which could be both...cost effective as well as catering to your needs.
Thanks.

My budget is For Rs.15000-17000. I want best value for money. My use will be for net searching, project designing, music downloading, & much more features.

well go in fo a sempron based rir... i will try to make a config for you...

Sempron 2xxx+ + Asus sis chipset based mobo 6K
256 DDR 2K
80 Gig 2.8K
DVD drive Rs 1.3K
17" Normal Moniter 5.5K
Keyboard mouse optical combo .8K
Cabby + Generic PSU 1K
Generic Speakers .5K
Total= Approx 20K or less

If you choose to go in for a smaller moniter it will just b in your budget but i would recommend going in for a big moniter...

Yea, that Config is perfect.

But i do recommend go for a Pentium 4 2 Ghz or something. I do not trust low end Semprons.

What do you mean by that? Are they deceptive, foxy, insincere, misleading, sneaky, treacherous, two-faced, underhanded, untruthful, or wily?

Mihir, that is a really good config switch has suggested. Intel will not give you much value for money.

ROFL!!
Cmon, you know i dont mean that. Ive had bad experiences with my frnds Sempron. They are so slow! He upgraded to a 2.4 ghz p4 and all was good.

Some changes
Sempron 2600+ and asus k8v-mx - 6k
512Mb ddr for 2.1k ;) That was a typo i guess

AMD Semperon 2600+ with MSI/Gigabyte board (Via chipset) is arnd 5.2K even with the Asus board its 5.5K not 6K :)

^ We're talking about a Sempron 64 here ! Its based on the Socket 754 platform, not the older Socket A Semprons.

I agree with Switch's config:

Sempron 64 2600+ ~ 2.9K

Asus K8V-MX ~ 2.8K

512MB DDR ~ 2.1K

80 GB HDD ~ 2.5K

CD Writer/DVD Drive ~ 1.3K

17" Monitor ~ 5.5K

Logitech Keyboard + Optical Mouse ~ 550

Cabinet + PSU ~ 1K

Altec Lansing AVS200 ~ 0.5K

Total ~ 19150

If you want to bring it down exactly within your 17K budget, the sacrifices you will have to make are - bringing the RAM down to 256MB, and reducing your monitor size to 15". Total will then be around ~ 17K

btw i bought Sempron 64bit 2600+ with MSI mobo from SMC international only 3 weeks ago at 5.2 K, board is for 2.6K and that guy quoted 2.9K for the ASUS board.

^ That would mean your Sempron 64 2600+ is only 2.6K? Thats really low, considering SMC international aint that cheap !

Hmm Sempron 64 is a decent buy, also trust me you will require 512 mb RAM atleast if you wanna surf net, make word files, excel files and listen to music together.

No UPS for this fella??
Nope aces that wont be actually necessary. Even 256 will do for all that but little tweaking to keep the unnecessary processes will be required.
Until last week I had been living on 256.

I agree with Aces. I m sure he wont regret spending extra 1.2 K for more memory coz with 512 mb of RAM XP n other programs run like a charm.

I have never heard about this Sempron 64... i am confused.... please suggest me good place in Mumbai (near to borivali) where i can buy good PC at reasonable cost..............
