Please suggest me a mobile for less than 5000 rupees. It should have following features

1. MP3 Player and Radio
2. Extensible memory
3. Decent camera
4. Sturdy
5. Candy Bar design
6. Preferably Sony Ericsson or Nokia

I hope i am not asking more for the price point. I have lost touch on the phone prices so am not aware what we can get for what price

Sound quality is important guys. I am using w800i for last 3.5 years and i swear my next phone will also be SE especially because i listen a lot to Music. So just clearing this.

PS: This phone is for my brother and not for me.

I am a SE person myself.
If I were to choose a phone under 5K I would go for the W350i or the T303.

PS: As far as I have heard, the sound quality of the Nokia 5130 is quite good too. But then again, a Walkman is a Walkman.

^^ I asked my bro and he does not like this sony thing for that flap. He wants normal candy bar. 5130 XM looks good and it also has a 3.5mm connector which is good.
How much would it be available for in Alfa ?

^^ Ya i did check all the specs and read a review on techtree also and found this phone to be amazing. Everyone (inc TE folks) are saying that sound quality is amazing. Now dont get me wrong, but i always have a bias towards SE when it comes to SQ. Its just that i am not able to find a SE phone in the budget. Even this one is little above 5K but still looks really worth.
I wanted to have a full blown review of the 5130 but could not find this phone on mobile-review.com :S Not sure why they dont have it listed.
Where else can i get a full detailed review with stuff like actual live phone pics and all. Sorry but i do a thorough R&D before buying a gadget so :ashamed:

And you should!

A little personal review:

Although I used the phone very briefly, I quite liked it. It definitely looks good. The sound quality is very good. And the 3.5mm jack is a HUGE plus, because proprietary connectors tend to go loose after a while. [Every SE user knows this :ohyeah:]

The menus are typical Nokia. For me they were a tad inefficient, but then again, a huge number of people prefer the Nokia menus. So I guess that's subjective.

You also might like to check the prices at Classic Telecom. Its right next to Alfa, and they offer better prices and customer service. Just remember to BARGAIN.

W800i is the one i am using currently and this nokia one is for my brother and not for me. I am satisfied with my w800i and feel it can pawn any other phone in SQ (that's because i love my phone very much :ashamed: ). My brother yesterday asked at Indrparastha shopping center, Borivali (w) and the price quoted there was 5300 so i suppose the price at Alfa should be pretty much same.

@shaunak
The connector in my w800i has not gone loose till now. I mean if you are talking about the one on the phone. As far as the earphone connector goes, thats a different story. After my original earphones knocked off completely, i started buying those road side 50 bucks HPM 70s and connected EP630 to it. Now i connect my RE2 to them :ohyeah:
I think i have spent more than 600 bucks till date on those fake HPM70s just for the sake of that lower fast port connector.
Thats the very reason i am waiting before getting my own next sony, wont buy until there is one available with a 3.5mm jack and a candy bar design.

I did not mean W800 is bad....by the way 5130 is better just because it is new..thats all....I have used W700i for 2.5 years and SQ was pretty good...now times have changed and Nokia has come on top in terms of SQ..just love the better device at a point of time and no brand loyalty...:hap2:

^^ True...but for me it will always be Sony Ericsson. Don't ask why :ashamed:
And yes at that point when i bought the w800i, i suppose no Nokia phone (IIRC) would give competition to SE in terms of SQ. Its only later that they started the Music edition and xpress music stuff.
And yes very true that w800i is history now..even for sony :P and nokia has improved in terms of SQ and that's the very reason i told my brother for Nokia. Also i did not find any SE walkman phone (that my brother also liked) in the budget i wanted it to be.

So it is final that it will be 5130 as of now

I *was* talking about the Headphone connectors ..... :P

Anyway, I will always remain an SE user (unless NOKIA does something drastic). Loose headphone et al. :P

Guys now i am in a fix. I had a talk with my dad and he says that someone in his office is using that phone and that person says that this 5130 hangs a lot :S and he has taken that to nokia service center 3 times.
Even my bro said that someone in his college has and that gal also says this phone hangs.

What is this with hanging thing ? Is the problem that serious ?

Even i use 5130 no problem with hanging if any problem is there just update firmware that should fix it
http//mobile-review.com/review/nokia-5130-en.shtml

^^ what is the firmware version of you phone, can you tell me ? And also how do we check the FW verison on this phone. With this information i can tell my brother to cross verify the FW with those problematic phones.

Other 5130 owners also please pitch in your views :ashamed:

well if 5130 is anything like the 5310 im not surprised that is hangs etc, i personally never used the 5130 but its pretty much the 5310 with a slightly newer version of S40. I had such a nightmare with my 5310!! It restarted hours after i got it and kept doing that randomly when listening to music, the keypad light never used to lightup sometimes and i had many reception problems. After taking it to the service center a few times, the issues were never resolved,i jus exchanged that frustrating phone and never looked at another Nokia phone. Thats jus my experience though and if you are getting info that the phone hangs etc i would suggest not going for it. I'm not saying all Nokia phones are like that but these midrange phones from them seem to have some problems hmmmm...
