What's your Budget? (e.g. >30K, not more than 50K etc.)

15-20k max (can not go above 20k strictly)

What will be your primary usage for the notebook be? (e.g. web surfing/office apps/Casual Gaming)

web surfing/ mails. this will replace old pc which was used for same task.

What size and weight considerations do you have? (e.g. Do you want a 17" desktop replacement or you want an ultraportable 12" or something in between)

must have 1366x768 resolution atleast.

Any brand that you prefer, or any brand that you detest? (e.g some would prefer to stay away from Acer or Dell)

should have excellent service.

Any other considerations? (e.g Battery life; Widescreen/non-widescreen; Glossy/Matte screen etc.)

around 6 hrs battery life

Other: Prefer Amd E350 or 450 series or 2nd gen Intel sandybridge series processors. Also Turbo boost if possible.

Q: the atom series have hardware limitation of 2GB ram max. Is 2Gb ram sufficient for a netbook? Asking since processor speeds are just around 1.5Ghz and they might feel slow.

Help me to decide between -

1. Acer Aspire 5733z ~~ 22000

P6200, 2.13GHz, 2 cores (no hyperthreading), 512L2 + 3MB L3 cache, 500MHz integrated graphics, upto 8Gb memory, 35W TDP, Windows experience index: 5.8

2. Toshiba Satellite C Series C665-P5010 ~~ Rs 19144

P6100, 2.0GHz, 2 cores (no hyperthreading), 512L2 + 3MB L3 cache, 500MHz integrated graphics, upto 8Gb memory, 35W TDP, Windows experience index: 5.7

3. Samsung NP300-E4Z-A03IN ~~ 21000

Pentium B950, 2.10GHz, 2 cores (no hyperthreading), 2MB L3 cache, 650MHz integrated graphics, upto 16Gb memory, 35W TDP, Windows experience index: 6

4. Samsung RV RV513-A02IN ~~ 21000

AMD E450, 1.65GHz, 2 cores (with Turbo), 2 x 512KB L3 cache, 508MHz integrated graphics, upto 8Gb memory, 18W TDP, Windows experience index: 3.9

5. Samsung RV RV513-A01IN ~~ 20000

AMD E350, 1.60GHz, 2 cores (no Turbo), 2 x 512KB L3 cache, 500MHz integrated graphics, upto 8Gb memory, 18W TDP, Windows experience index: 3.8

Personally, i'm thinking of getting the option #3.

All the cpu info was compiled from various sites off the web from cpu comparison tables. The windows experience index is of processor only.

^ it has old specs compared to these ones which cost just about 1-2k more. plus it design looks like 20yrs old IBM laptop. i hate seeing that plain design now.

One of my friend is willing to sell his Samsung N150 Plus netbook. Its just 3 months old. Let me know if you are interested.

Consider the Thinkpad x120e on Sulekha.com for 17k or 21k on flipkart.com.

+1 for the X120e deal.

Well do you want a shiny laptop or one that does the computing part right? It's a Thinkpad (without rollcage & milspec thou). It'll still be solid. http://www.techenclave.com/topic/510027-lenovo-x120e-for-rs-21k-good-deal/

i want a shiny laptop with better specs than a lenovo, mainly cause this is for home use and i wont be taking it out for a walk.

i used a ibm thinkpad for some years in office. they are like just other laptops, only the plastic used is better.

lenovo was solid first, i dont know about the new ones. i'd get a newer faster processor anyday, over something that will work like a snail 2 years down the line.

i know, by that reasoning, the processor i choose will work slow too, but it will be faster than the lenovo one.
