hi guys........

just started working in a company...... i was having a doubt that there would be some restriction on the phones with camera........ and it came true when i joined........:@

was using nokia 6233 for past 4-5 years(quite long now)....... and wanted desperately to move to a new high end phone..... was thinking of getting a 5800, or samsung wave(once its released) or even N900........

but now i have to go back to my old 1100 lying at home now........... :@........although its a good phone and love the snake game on it.......... have a very high score in it(without cheat, will post later on confirming the score from home)...........:thumb:

but seriously dont want to go back to that phone now..........

i even went to shops and inquired about the phone without cameras....... got some cheap mobiles in nokia which i didn't like at all, found one micromax and spice with qwerty keypad and dual sim(rest all features same as that of my 6233 phone)......... micromax and spice mobiles were priced around 1700-1800 rupees only:cool1:

but i wanted some phones with something more than 6233....atleast smart phone and with gps and wifi......... although would rarely use wifi..........:bleh:.....

any other suggestions........??

Smartphone without camera is non-existent. I gave up after almost a year of searching. Your best bets are Micromax Q1, the Nokia 5030 (the keypad sucks IMO), and the Samsung dual SIM one (dont remember the model number).

i wonder if we can request the service centres to disable the cameras or remove the cameras in one particular phone................?? is that possible...........??......

^ It is possible. However, it also depends on the kind of policy your company follows. If they are very particular that even a disabled camera will not be allowed, then you are out of luck.

i think as long as the camera is visible(disable or not) it would be a problem.............. otherwise if no camera is seen behind mobile (full back cover like in mobiles without camera) or a cavity (nothing in place of camera) is there then it would be possible to use it...........

anyways how much would it cost.........??

Devesh,

Check out the Samsung Champ. It is a touch screen phone and comes in 2 versions; a camera one and a non-camera one. Quite inexpensive too. I think the non-camera one is around 4K.

Happy Hunting !!

I don't think things like that exist anymore

Long time back there was an E51 without camera. I don't think they are available now

Or you can do this, read this on engadget :D

Get a iPhone 3GS, buy a broken iPod touch off of eBay, and find a way to fit that back cover on it in place of the 3GS's back cover.

Samsung E1390 comes without camera. Basic phone that accepts microSD.

W950

This is the best specked non-camera phone IINM. Try to find 2nd hand ones, as it was discontinued long back:P

My friend had the same problem, he had a BlackBerry. He went to the service center and had the camera removed for a fee.

I work for a company which has the same rule for camera phones, Deactivated camera phones will be confiscated as per my company policy because there is always a possibility of reactivating the camera. This is the bad news, however the good news is that Samsung champ has two models and the second model does not have a camera. Its available at eBay for 3700. My friend got it for 3600 n Bangalore.

I have a BB 8700 After seeing this model, i totally fell in love, So i am going to buy this next week, Here is the Ebay link

eBay India: NEW SAMSUNG CHAMP C3300 TOUCH PHONE, 1GB + BILL + WRNTY (item 150485139050 end time 02-Sep-2010 14:00:34 IST)
