Guys it seems my Unicorn's tyres have worn out. I had bought the bike in 2007 November and till now have driven close to 13500 kilometers (i know my usage is less). But i have experienced that the rear tyre is skidding many a times and feel the need to change it.
What brand i should go for and specifications if you can provide ??
Currently it is MRF Zapper (dont know specs).
Also can i put fatter tyres so that i get better road grip ??
Any idea about cost ??
Michiliean is also an option.

I will suggest u 2 go for Ceat vertigo as i changed my rear tyre recently last week & it cost me 1650rs.

Michelin has lainched Pilot Sport in India. Get it!!!

100/90-18 is 2.1K here in bangy.

Got price of 1800 for only tyre and 2100 for tyre + tube
Any specific reason for choosing this ?

I just know that i dont want to go for zapper anymore.

Also read somewhere on xBHP that these Michelin are soft compound tyres so probability of a puncture is more ?? :S

The tyre life will be little less but ride quality will be little more comfy...

For 13k kms you really don't need to change your bike's tyres unless riding had been on extreme roads with a few punctures, better improve your driving, breaking skills..

I drive in Pune and my daily commute road from Aundh to Hinjewadi sucks big time and cannot be called a road at all. Rather it is like off road. Also the bike has been taken to ghat sections and also to Mumbai (back and forth) twice on NH4

Suffered puncture twice and the tube inside the tyre currently is a puncture fixed one.

Me has a 2006 Uni and done quite some kms. I am gonna go for the MRF Moto C or D. The tyre looks bulky and has quite the grip.

There is a huge MRF shop near the Chinchwad river bridge.

^^ Why did you choose MRF and what other options had you shortlisted before ?

I believe you too work in Hinjwadi. If i am not mistaken there is a MRF tyre shop on left side of shell petrol pump too right ?

Also how much is the cost of Moto C and Moto D (with and without tube).

I am not sure if Chinchwad will be near to me or not, need to find something enroute to aundh / baner. But i guess i am aware about a shop in near Khadki.

you may want to put off road style tyres...lol better grip on road less places :P

The Ceat Vertigo 100/90-18 is a good option among the desi brands. I had used Mrf zapper q, Dunlop monster, Dunlop Geo cruiser etc and I found this to be the best of the lot when it comes to grip on bad roads.

^^ Yes me too am now inclined towards the vertigo. Enquired in a shop near my office but i guess i was quoted more (like 2000 for tyre + tube) while elsewhere it was 1700.

I decided that coz the tyres are not that bad and its near my place :bleh:

Not sure about the octroi but the shop which i first enquired told me "2000 tak lagega" while another reputed shop in Shivaji nagar quoted for 1700.
