Hi guys

Ive always been a heavy rock/metal fan, but recently I have got into some alternative rock such as Creed, and Poets of the Fall. Can you guys suggest some other bands in the same genre?

Thanks

Breaking Benjamin,Chevelle,Bullet for My Valentine,Three Days Grace,Hinder...the ones is bold have some really good songs..use wikipedia for more info :)

if you liked creed you might like most of the post grunge stuff like Nickelback, hinder, 3 doors down, daughtry et al... wiki post grunge for a list of bands...

Not my genre of choice though :P

Apart from the ones listed above, try Coldplay, Audioslave, queens of stone age, nickelback, 3 doors down, blind melon, radiohead, silverchair, the calling, daughtry, crash test dummies, dave matthews band, hoobastank, the killers, live, soundgarden, vertical horizon, the wallflowers etc.

MXPX, Boys like girls, Yellowcard, Billy Talent, Alkaline Trio, Fall out boy, Mcfly, My chemical Romance, Rise Against, Story of the year, Zebrahead, The used, Switchfoot, Reggie and the full effect, the Offspring....those are a few bands off the top of my head.

If you like poets of the fall, you'd probably appreciate bands with a progressive touch. Choose at will:

Dream Theater, Yes, Rush, Symphony X, Opeth, Children of bodom, Porcupine Tree, Queensrcyhe, Blind guardian, Stratovarius, Orphaned Land, Iron Maiden, Therion, Nightwish, Within temptation, Sonata Arctica, The Gathering.

@ chaos, for progressive .. add pain of salvation , ayeron(one of my fav. progressive metal bands) and liquid tension experiments to that list ...

@priavte, anathema is one of a kind band :ohyeah: .... though i like their doom metal works more than their progressive acts :P

Yup love those as well... its just a list of what came to my mind at that point of time lol :P.

More alternative: Our Lady peace, Three days grace, Seether, Breaking Benjamin, NIckelback, 3DD, Audioslave, Fuel, Soil, Trapt, Default.

Hmm...

Alternate Rock would be :

Lifehouse, Maroon 5, Deathcab for Cutie, Snow Patrol, My Chemical Romance, Sum41, Simple Plan, Muse, Alter Bridge, Jimmy Eat World, Crossfade, Dashboard Confessional, Goo Goo Dolls, Green Day, Oasis, Puddle of Mudd, Smile Empty Soul, Switchfoot, Yellowcard, The Calling.

However, check out these bands too, they're damn good:

Atreyu, Avenged Sevenfold, SOiL, Disturbed, Saliva

Thanks for all the suggestion guys. I had a look at some bands. I am just loving Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace, Crossfade, Audioslave etc. I listened to some Iron Maiden songs, but didn't really like them. Maybe they didn't suit my taste. I thought it would be more of Metallica-like songs, on the lines of Nothing Else Matters and the like. Same with Tool, their music just seemed a bit wierd, and bit like the theme of a sci fi movie.

Anyways thanks for the suggestions.

If nothing else, this thread shows that TE has a lot of people with god-awful taste in music....

If you actually "Appreciate" music and not the emo-fag-shit 99.9% of today's band spit out. please listen to these bands, they're actually nice and they didn't need 1000 piercing and hundreds of F words in single songs to achieve that.

Metal:

Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osborne, AC\DC, Motörhead, Metallica, Skid Row, Poison, Queensrÿche, KISS, Dokken, Van Halen, Ratt, Guns N' Roses (AFD Only), Steppen Wolf

Rock:

Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Aerosmith, The Who, Dire Straits, Bad Company, The Rolling Stones, Blue Oyster Cult, The Allman Brother's Band, U2

also, TOOL has zero music talent. listening to their randomly composed crap is dishonoring your ears and router. also, If you like Really fast music (but not fast as Speed metal or death metal) you can check out Bullets and Octane. very nice band, only two albums so far but their "I Ain't Your Savior" and "Save me Sorrow" tracks are awesome. (GnR-ish)

Edit: Nu-Metal sucks too! It's not even metal, it doesn't even have solid Guitar riffs for crying out loud! It's not metal, hell, It's not even a genre. It's an Embarrassment (mispronounced as a Music Genre)created by Artists that have little or zero talent.
