Hi,

I really love the old classics like Maha ganapathim, muddugare yashodha etc but the problem is I cant understand/Like them when they stretch them too much on raagas.I like them with beats/Guitar etc.

Can some one suggest me some albums which has old classic music remixes/Fusions. They can be instrumental/Vocal.

thanks in advance.

PS: This is not a post to insult the Classical music.

If you dig Mahavishnu Orchestra the you might also like Secret Chiefs 3 though they aren't exactly in the genre.

well , I was wondering if your Mother Tongue is Telugu . You might have listened to

Ghantasala's classical melodies (eg. Shivashankari Shivaanandalahari ...) ; You might

have listened to Shankaraabharanam , Saagara Sangamam , Svaathi Muthyam , Siri

Vennela , Shruti Layalu , Svaraabhishekam ... ... films' songs ; You might have come

across Alai Pongeraa in Sakhi , Mahaa Ganapathim & Taaye Yashoda in Morning Raaga

... like this there are a lot of classical based / semi classical songs which are smooth

Now for fusion albums please go through youtube videos ...
you may PM me if interested as it will be difficult for me to follow forum !!!

Hey thank you all.

@ Tanuj advaita is too gud.

@Seshu, I know the songs you mentioned, but the issue is they are old songs , so the recording quality will be bad. That is the reason I have asked for some basic remixes.

Try Vidyadhar Bhave if you like Indian Classical/Rock fusion.

How do I get Advaita's album? Is it available to purchase anywhere? I can't find it.

try the soundtrack of 'morning raga' movie (uses popular carnatic songs )...
another one would be krishna lila by dj cheb-i-sabbah (based on popular calssical music - half the songs are carnatic and the other half hindustani)

Try Advaita-Grounded in space.

Thanks Phonenix and Jith, Will try your suggestions

More suggestions please

karsh kale and anoushka shankar Anoushka Shankar & Karsh Kale - Breathing Under Water is my favourite..Karsh's album Realize is also rocking. :)

Don't know if they fall in category you have mentioned but they are worth listening.

You may try Maya - Hariprasad Chaurasia & Rajeev Sharma on Santoor. It is instrumental. A very good fusion with Indian classical tilt.

BTW, I loved Advaita.

I'm not aware of old classical remixes but rather new material that tries to fuse Indian with western. Not heard anything good recently these are from a few yrs back

Anything by Nitin Sawhney, TJ Rehmi, Talvin Singh & Alpha-X
