Linux Suggest some topics for Final Year Project.

I need ideas,suggestions and topics for a final year Project.
Domain Preferences:- Networking,System,Application Software.
Also it would be nice if you suggest me some companies which gives Project Sponsorship.
 
See, if you are looking for new intresting ones, go for some IEEE project topics. Besides you can have any one from the existing ( from Seniors :console:) for a good practice. (Possibly do specify the specifications for the project?? I mean front end, back end,etc.)

Research a bit about Remote Sensing & see where you can implement it in Manufacturing Companies. I am doing my MBA & doing a project on it for the last 4 months. An application can be extremely beneficial for mid-size organizations.
 
I am not sure why you posted this topic in Open Source & Linux sub section ?

Anyway, grab a copy of Richard Stevens Unix N/W Programming, implement a protocol or two, write a chat application or something. That's what my friend did.
