So I thought since Battlefield 3 is coming out soon, its about time that I relieved my Sapphire 4850 from its duties that it has performed flawlessly for the past 4 years. Please suggest a good card within a 11-12k budget. The card should play Battlefield 3 at high/ultra settings with decent framerates.

Rest of my specs.

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600

Asus P5K-VM

G.Skill 2x2GB DDR2

Corsair HX 620 PSU

Viewsonic VG1930wm (1440x900)

Thanks.

6870 for 11K (Enough for the reso you are going to run games at) or 6950 1gb at 13K........... Please make sure you have atleast 500w branded psu i.e corsair VX550, seasonic 520 or above PSU......

Good then a 6870 would suffice only if you are not planning to upgrade your monitor to 22"... If you are planning to upgrade monitor in near future, then get a 6950 1gb... I wont ask you wait for 7XXX series.. If you have the patience, you can wait for them, but till their release you may well get a second hand 6850 for say 7K to 8K and I am sure it will run BF3 at ultra at that reso

Thanks for the advice.I upgrade my comp once every 3-4 years...that too, only if I feel its really necessary.Because I don't play every new game out there, just specific ones that I play competitively.

IF you are not upgrading your monitor in the coming 2 years then 6870 for 11K is more than enough, coz at that reso, even a 6870 wont be utilized to full potential. 6950 would be a overkill.. If you seriously feel like upgrading monitor, only then get a 6950
