The following is config of my friends pc staying in Pune. Off lately she is bearing with very frequent power cuts in her area and is frustrated for obvious reasons. A backup of 10-15 mins is fine for her needs.

--------------------------
AMD Athlon x4 620
Biostar mobo
4gb ddr3 corsair xms3
500gb sata ST
80gb pata Samsung
Gigabyte superb 460w
Xfx 9800gt green edition
17in viewsonic lcd
2.1 creative sound system
usb kb n mouse
--------------------------
the ups should support approx output for 400w.

Budget less than 4k...though lower the better.

Also guys mention some good market place or specific shops in Pune from where she can buy without getting cheated and at fair prices.

I think its this same model - APC BR600CI-IN. In this budget i think this is a good buy. It does not have support for auto shutdown if battery becomes low.
Tell her to call apc helpline, they will provide contact number of place from where to buy ups.

@nRiTeCh best bet for your friend are the following --
  • APC BR600VA-IN ~2000/-
  • APC BR-650VA-IN ~2600/- (expensive but can monitor battery status for auto-shutdown.
  • MicroTek 800VA ~2800/- (I trust this the least for the job)
Hope this helps, Cheerio!

ALPHA17: Oh thanx a lot mate. How is microtek as to apc in terms of a.s.s. and warranties of ups + battery + repair n replace policies?
Is this the microtek model you mentioned?

Also I read somewhere that 600/650Va only supplies output upto 350/370watts max. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I need which support 400w with ease. Will 650VA suffice this? And how much wattage can 800Va provide?

APC is door-to-door services for most tasks save changing the batteries. For MicroTek you have to go to the local service provider for them to get everything done (including replacing the product in case it fails on you / does not perform to standards etc etc). This is how it was in Bangalore dunno if it will be same-same in Pune.

Hope this helps, Cheerio!

even with everything at max in that rig it wont cross 250W at peak. why do you need 400w support ups? besides for a 400w load, min is 750VA-1000VA ups.
