suggest wifi router with good range

Hi everyone ,

I have an airtel broadband connection with 4mbps speed (which they promised , actually i get 2.2 - 2.3 mbps ) .
i wanted to buy a wifi router (only a router not a modem router) which has a very good range as i need to use the laptop on the second floor and the airtel connection and
my pc is on the first floor .

My budget is Rs.2000

I searched and found Belkin N300 within my price range and it promises 3D coverage through floors and walls because of MIMO technology .

I wanted to ask will i get almost the same speed on the floor above with this ?

And what can be the best alternative for this belkin one because i have heard that it has problems like frequent connection loss.

Speed wont be issue. even if you biy wireless g, your broadband speed wont go beyond its capacity.

Wifi n will br of use if all your wireless gear is on wifi n and you have to transfer files and all.
 
i'd suggest the Linksys E1000. I got one in april for 2.5k...it's street price must have come down by now. Super Wireless N router.. extremely stable and dead simple to configure.
 
hey thank you for the alternatives , my main concern is the range and not the speed .

Will the router range pass through concrete floor and the walls ?

the distance will be about 20-40 feet only but will have a thick concrete floor in between and a wall ?

@twisted mind - Have u used ur linksys through walls and floor and checked the range and the speed there ?

IF you have please share your experience :)
 
I see two or three users in this thread who were looking to purchase wireless modem routers. What did you purchase and how has your experience been so far?

I am stuck in the same boat right now and can't decide what I should purchase.
