Well i do have normal ac in home(bedrooms) but i sleep in my hall watching tv..and due to present heat-sceanrio was thinking to get one of this.....

could have easily gone for split ac..but was reading an ad in newspaper about some symphony new air cooler.....which uses electricity equivalent to 80 paise per hour.....which i find more good news than what a normal or split use....

but i dont have any idea how does it work...i guess it works on ice.....also is it good to go for one??

also which one symphony or kenstar...

also being within 5k range this looks more vaible than a normal ac....

please suggest

@magnet :

aircooler and airconditioner work in different principals.

Air cooler plain and simple cooling of air by way of water dissipation, but the biggest disadvantage will be a lot of humidity. and you will not feel better even after a stint of few hours of sleep or rest in air cooler.

while air conditioners cool air as well as condition it by way or removing humidity from it. so you will feel much better after a period of rest in airconditioned environment.

i do not know about the organization of your house but most likely it may have open hall mean connection with kitchen or dining area is wide open so you may not benefit much from either ac or cooler.

you can opt for a wet towel or napkin on your head though :P

give some reasons too geez :|

Has to do with what the relative humidty is like in your area.

He's right, for the same reason they don't work too well in Bangalore either.

Delhi would be an ideal place, or anywhere else with dry heat or humidty < 30%
