Recently purchased Xonar D2X and now looking for a good headphone basically for music and games. However movies is also in priority list. I checked JVC RX700 headphones which retails for $35 on newegg. Seems to be tempting but fizzmall quoted it at a sky rocketed price of 4800 + shipping. My strict budget is maximum 3k. Want a good headphones which should be comfortable to wear and also sound good.

^^ You could try the Philips SHP 5400 if you can find them that is. They sell for about 2400 and they seem to be good sounding headphones.

The JVC headphones unfortunately are pretty big and hence shipping costs a bomb ! :(

Hey sumchamp.. if you are ok with IEMs too then i would suggest you to go for Head direct RE-2 , amarbir is selling them for 2500/-.

^^ The link I gave was for future bazaar. They can ship it to your house. However the headphones are a bit bright (more treble centric). So keep that in mind.

If you have a coupon then get the SHP9000 without a thought ! However do note that the SHP9000 NEED an amp otherwise they will sound rather ordinary.

Also remember to burn it in for at least 60 hours before attempting to listen to them.

BF1983, can you guide me as to what do you mean by burning in for atleast 60 hours before attempting to listen to the headphones ?

@Sumchamp - Congrats ! Didn't expect such a big price difference between Fizzmall and KMD.

@Shirish - Burn in is a process where you continuosly play music/pink noise/white noise/signal sweep continuously for a couple of hours. In this case I had suggested 60 hrs. Most headphones sound great after 35 - 40 hours.
