Hi,

Can anyone please suggest a good pair of earphones other than Soundmagic PL-30s within the given price range??
If nothing, please recommend where to buy PL-30s online??I cant seem to find an online seller..

Thanks,
Harsha

look @ the jvc marshmallows ha-fx34 my sig ones.. u should get em from buy.com (from iccworld) roughly 1200 bux, awesome vfm.

I am really happy with the MeElectronics M6. They are usually on sale for 25-30$. I like them better than the pl30 (I had those as well). The only negative is that it takes time to find a good fit with the memory wire. (And there is no way to remove the memory wire.) They are exclusively over-the-ear.

On the other hand, the fit (once achieved) is brilliant and the cables are very sturdy.

MEElectronics offers better build quality, though their prices have shot up recently. Wait for a promotion and grab M6. Or stretch your budget a bit - then you can get either a Visang R03 or a Brainwavz M2?

Since you asked something different as a recommendation ...................

If you are not particular about build quality, you can have a look at Playaz / Xears : PlayaZ-Audio.com - Enjoy Pure High-End. It's a German Co which uses Japanese drivers in Chinese housings. But their entire line-up comes with a "Big Bass" warning :)

I have a TD-100-I, which I picked up as a travel IEM - something that won't burn a hole in my pocket when lost. It used to be a 44 Euro IEM (+ shipping of 8 Euros worldwide) and now on clearance sale to accommodate TD-100-II. I heard (through reliable sources) that TD-100-II has the same driver and housing, but tuned more for clarity. So, I went for a TD-100-I. It's SQ has surprised me on the positive side (for a 15 Euro IEM). But, build quality is meh! I hate the J-Cord; the bundled ear tips are horrible. But, it's bass reminds me of Hippo VB and it gets a bit more balanced on a double flange.

Reviews which led me to it:

Playaz N1 - Head-Fi.org Community
PlayaZ and Xears review - Six models tested - Head-Fi.org Community
Multi-IEM Review - 105 IEMs compared (ljokerl) (IEM #3A33)

There is at least one person in Head-Fi who preferred this over IE8, though I think that's just crazy :P

u can also look into the m9, out of all the meelecs that me bf1983 and faheem managed to grab a demo of, it was a generel consensus that those def sounded the best out of the lot, m6 has alot of bass, more quantity but m9 is much more tighter not bloated like the m6. i think its also the most comfortable out of the lot! also something to consider is head direct re2.. would be a nice step up from ur pl's and maintains the re sound also very easy to drive unlike the rest of the lot from Head.. these or the brainwavz m2 aka visangr03 for a little more r all great options, u can also look into e'z recomendations above, u haveta figure out what kind of sound u want to hear n choose accordingly

bloated!?
I understand it has more bass. I believe it give quiet a good reproduction of the sound.
I personally like a little recessed bass.

to each his own - no two ears r the same, for me the m6 does sound like the bass is more enhanced and not how it is in the actual track, maybe im growing old but id like my music to be more accurate to the original as possible. so for me the m9 > m6.

^^ Actually I felt the same thing when I heard them. I liked the M6 the least of the three due to what I perceived was an exaggerated bass but Faheem felt the bass was not enough. :P

@Esantosh - So now we have to add another IEM to your ever growing list ? :O

^^ ... I was looking for a sub-3K IEM for my friend and decided on a M2 for him. In the course of search for cheaper IEMs with decent SQ, hit upon this and you know what happens next :ashamed:

JVC Marshmallows or MEElec M9.

Though I would strongly suggest you to increase your budget slightly and get the RE2.
