Graphic Cards suggestion needed : AGP card

i'm planning to buy a new graphics card, AGP..
trying to get one from the US if everything works out..

now my first choice is ATi's X800XT or even the X850XT PE (depending upon availability).
the only confusion that i have is tht regarding SM 3.0 support..the X8XX series doesnt support SM 3.0..
i wanna know if this will be a cause of concern with the new games coming up in the next 6-12 months, cos i dont intend to carry out any further upgrades for the next year or two..

any suggestions/inputs will be welcome..
 
You dont have many options on the AGP front do you ? in any case Nv4x aka Geforce 6 series offers medicore SM 3.0 support, AIW X800XT would be your best bet.

Baasha a x800xt around 6 months or a year ago might have been a good choice due to the lack of sm 3.0 games and the lack of hardware supporting it. But right now both the 7800 and x1800 are sm 3 complaint. So this year will see more and more titles taking benefit of sm 3.0 in some way or the other. So my suggestion would be to go in for a 7800gt or x1800, the 7800gt costing as low as 330$ (maybe lower) and the x1800xl as low as 359$ from asus and upgrade ur existing rig to pcie as well. Just my 2 cents. If its not feasible go ahead with the x850xt/x800xt.

u can get the evga offer wich give u a nforce 4 ultra pcie board free with the 7800 gt/gtx i guess tht would be a good deal for you... or just wait for the 7800gs...
 
Well, the x1800's are coming in AGP now.

So watch out for them.

Get the x1800 xl AGP. It should be around 400 - 450 Dollars.

Costs more than PCI-e coz of the new Bridge they have to create. :).
 
Don't buy AGP ! Just take my word for it !

As Satan mentioned the eVGA deal with a nForce4 board is sweet else, just upgrade to PCIe...
 
but do u guys think that the future games might not work at all with cards not supporting SM 3.0
i mean i'm ok with playing them with a lil lesser eye candy..

i'm definitely not looking for a PCI-E upgrade...
will think abt tht a year or two...

x1800 will never be in agp flavor
 
^^ Yeah thats not true. Diamond Multimedia that was said to release one cuz it said so on their website owned up that it was a mistake on their part. They even issued a statement regarding it. Got good publicity though,
