Suggestion needed : Buying few home appliances

Hi.

Since we are planning to move on a new house ;) Mom planned to get some new stuff for our new house.. So here are the list of items [electronic] we are looking for..

1. Air Conditioner [AC]

2. Water Purifier

3. Washing Machine [Fully Automatic]

4. DTH

Well they did went to few electronic shop including Next and brought some broachers and quotes :P Since I don't have much idea about these stuff I thought of getting expert advice.

Here are my queries..

1. Which brand to prefer in the 1'st three items..

2. How big AC will we need ? We only plan to buy one Ac and rest Symphony coolers for other room.. The flat has 3 rooms and we intend to put ac in Drawing/Dining room which is pretty large.. So will 1ton will suffice our need ?

3. Is Reverse Osmosis [RO] better than UV ? :S The purifiers with RO cost 3-4k higher than that of plain UV based ... Again which brand to look for ?

4. Washing Machine .. It shouldn't be too big and must have decent capacity , only 3 persons at home so its pretty less I believe :P

5. I noticed that most of the people had Airtel DTH in the society so is it better or should we opt for other provider . What should we look for before taking a DTH service.. ? Currently we will be using in Normal CRT based TV maybe later on buy an LCD 32"..

Ahh .. What else I need to know before buying these goodies. I have no knowledge whatsoever in this segment :P

Budget ..

1. Ac - 20-25k .. Split preferred as DKD doesn't have a Window to put Window Ac..

2. W. Purifier .. ~7-8k ...

3. Washing Machie .. ~12k

4. DTH .. I don't know :P

So please help me out guys choose the best in the price range ,. It would be much helpful if you quote the model as well..

AC: Since you have mentioned that the room is pretty large, go for atleast a 1.5 ton ac. Given your budget, i would say, stick to an lg/samsung. You might have to spend a little extra for the 1.5 ton, but a 1 ton is definitely not going to get the work done.

Water Purifier: We are using a Kent RO at home for many years now and the results are satisfactory. Its a good option.

Washing Machine: No clue.

DTH: Well, I would recommend that you go for either tata sky or airtel digital tv. I personally use Tata Sky with which I'm very satisfied. The quality is good and more importantly, the customer care service is excellent. I've heard good things about airtel in terms of picture quality and better resistance to rain. However, the 'Sky' badge somehow attracts me more towards Tata Sky since they are really big abroad and will look to replicating their products and services in India.
 
Washing Machine: For 3 people a 6 KG Fully Automatic should be more than sufficient. I have a Samsung 6 kg Silver Nano. Been using it for just around 2.5 months now. Haven't faced any problems till date. Had got it at a special price of 12K on Gudi Padwa. MRP is around 13590. You can get it at around 12700.

Washing Machine - Siemens

They will cost more but will last better
 
You will have to supply more details before you can get proper answers.

Regarding the AC, it is not enough to just say it is a big room. How big? Is there direct sunlight into the room? Any major heat sources? A detailed description would elicit more educated advice.

Same with the water purifier. Where do you stay? What is the quality of the raw source of water?

The washing machine - would you need front loading or top loading? Are there space and access constraints?

Siemens Washing Machines are in the range of 25K plus. His budget is less than half of that.
 
AC- 1.5ton voltas split.
Water purifier- aquaguard ofcourse.
DTH- Dish tv i would say as i offers bout 240 channels than no other dth offers.
 
You need AC for Drawing / Dinning room, I assume that those areas are open to rest of the house, then you are in for bad luck. As the cooling required will be too much and it will blow up your electricity bills.
A thing you can do is either you put ac such that it blows on sitting area or dinning area as per your preferance. this will need atleast 1.5 ton model. Check the BEE ratings and get the best you can get in your budget out of ONIDA / VOLTAS / CARRIER.
Water Purifier :
Do you get pure, clean, soft municipal water supply then you dont need to go for RO system. You can use Ultra Filteration system of Permionics / Hindustan Lever (Pure It0 and now newly launched Eureka Forbes.
If you do get hard borewell water then you need to go for RO system, you can get Hitech / Kent / other brands almost all are same what is important is ASS and AMC whichever suits you best.

Washing Machine:
I have got experience with Whirlpool and Samsung both are good, you can get in about 15-17k budget.

DTH :
I have used DISH and right now using AIRTEL. BOth are good. AIRTEL is marginally better, while DISH has some better channel choices. AIRTEL has some better combinations to workout cheaper options.

Advantage with airtel is universal remote.

TATA SKY is marginally costlier than other options,
No idea about SUN DIRECT.
