Hi friends,

I am running out of space and need to buy a new internal SATA hard disk for my desktop system. I am confused between too many options available in the market to which one to go with.

My budget is around Rs. 2500 to 3500 for internal SATA hard disk. Between this budget, please suggest a hard disk for storage purpose which should be value for money. Also which brand, hitachi, samsung, seagate, or western digital and which capacity to go with will be value for money at this time.

Thanks in advance for advises.:)

Recently bought seagate 500gb sata internal hdd , a month back and functions good till now. You can go for that. Though some members say that seagate is subject to high failure rates , IMO no hardware is without issues or failure rates. It all depends upon your luck. Sometimes a chinese product may work well and will be functioning for years on the the contrary a branded product may fail or may not work well as expected.

I hear ppl say that WD has onsite service, and also doesnt fail like seagate. But i will suggest you seagate, since in my lifetime i have used several seagate hdds (and seagate only ) but only 1 has failed (120gb pata) and that too its because i used starforce nightmare :@ - a hack software which will make the game POP - T2T think that there is no cd drive present in system. This happened when seagate hdd failure rates were very very rare.

So its upto you to decide.

Which capacity will value for money. 500 GB, 640 GB, 750 GB, 1 tb, or 1.5 tb? I would prefer WD if the price difference is negligible.

If you can extend your budget by 500 extra, then you can get a seagate 1TB hdd - 4k . WD 1TB must be a little expensive i think..
