Hey guys,
My MSI P45 Neo mobo & my Palit HD4850 went bonkers few months back and since there weren't any decent Mobo's available i settled on the only one i could get,an Intel DG41 :-\. Anyway i want to buy a GFX card and my budget is 10k.After searching and reading around i think the HD7770 seems to be a good choice?Any suggestions?

Anyway is the 1GB DDR5 HD7770 compatible with my rather old system and will it run well?i know it will be a slight bottleneck but i will upgrade my system by early next year.
My config
Intel dg41
2x2GB Transcend RAM
CORSAIR VX550
Intel Q6600
CM Elite330 cabinet...will it be too small for the GFX card?My HD4850 was pretty cramped already.

Also what brand of HD7770 do you recommend?

Thank you

7 series heat output is far lower than 4 series cards. I have a 7750 with a single slot cooler in the Antec NSK2480 with very slow fans (read: no airflow at all!) and the card barely crosses 50 degrees. To be fair it is HTPC only, no games, but that's still mighty cool.

A 5570 would be running close to 70 degrees in there under same conditions, by way of comparison.

thanks! my system is pretty well ventilated so heat isn't much of an issue :D .Any idea if my PSU is sufficient and is the card physically larger than the HD4850?

PSU is fine. The card should be a little bit smaller than a 4850 but I have no way of telling for sure. You should look at the specs of the card you own, and the one you are proposing to buy. Both the 4850 and 7770 have many custom implementations, so one card is not always exactly the same as another.

Its a dual slot card, fits in my bijli with a m-ATX mobo and shouldn't be a problem unless you have like 3-4 hdds. Anyways Im assuming your mobo is ATX

Id' say get a used 7770 with warranty from the forums.

I am running an i5 4430+GTX 760 on the same PSU which is now around 3 years old.Relax....It will pull off the 7770 without breaking sweat.

nope its Sapphire! :)
Okay now here is a doubt..i guess these days 1gb is a minimum VRAM required for most of the games? So is it better to go for 1gb 7790 or 2gb 7770?is the extra RAM on the 7770 going to be useful or is ithe GPU a bottleneck for that much VRAM?

thank you :)

Video memory requirement is based on bus bandwidth and processing load. I doubt that for any resolution below 1680x with that level of GPU, you will hit a memory bottleneck even with 1GB. I also suspect that higher resolutions will not be possible at reasonable levels of detail with either 7770 or 7790.

I would pick the quicker GPU.

If you are from Kolkata better go to MD.That is one shop where you can find all sorts of high end hardware whereas at other shops(Technocrat,Supreme etc.) the sales people have no idea what you are talking about.I have bought all my hardware since 2008 from there but physically though.Never used their online portal

MD used to be good but over last two years they've really deteriorated. I have some bad stories regarding them, and i myself never shop from there since.

If you want to take a chance you can try them. But don't do what I did, do not pay an advance for any product they don't have in stock, even if they ask you to.

hmm..i was thinking abt using their online portal itself,im in Cochin!I haven't found any other online store offering the same prices :(.I called them up and they said they have in stock & would also provide the Gaming Coupon code :). Any other recommend e-stores matching the same price?

Thank you

Thanks guys.Im thinking about either a MSI or Sapphire, how are their Service & RMA's?what do you suggest?
@saumik_ why do you suggest a used one?

Because I got one for 5.7k with 2.3yrs warranty remaining albeit it is XFX I only play one game, FIFA at 1440p and this was when the dollar when biserk
