Suggestions for a new PDP: Panny P50S10 or P50X10?

Not for me! :bleh:

Friend in UAE, wants to buy a new PDP, (strictly not an LCD or those Samsung LED displays!).

He's zeroed in on two Panasonic models by far:

P50S10 and the P50X10.

The former seems to be an entry level 1080p plasma. The X10 is not a full-HD PDP and I've advised him to stay away from getting PDPs which are not full-HD since he's going for a 50incher anyway. 1080p makes sense.

Need some suggestions on the displays would be better for console gaming and HD viewing. Viewing distance is not an issue since he's got a huge drawing room. (Besides he's considering bringing back the PDP to India after 5 years or so.)

Any alternatives other than the 2 Pannys mentioned above? How would the 50PZ800 and the newer P50G10 fair w.r.t to the models above?

Budget: close to 1~1.2L INR and there seems to be no Pioneer distris/dealers in the UAE (strange! I'm sure he wouldn't have searched for any!).

well since he is going to get a big screen,i suggest him to get panasonic G10 or a V10 plasmas,its more comfortable in showing bright images,has better contrast.the last year models are inefficient ,consume lots of power.
if he watch SD content the lg are better ,they have good upscales so are the samsung,but they won't match the sheer contrast levels of the G10 or v10.

also see if he can source the new thx certified lg LED lcd,it has local dimming,not sure about the price.i am not sure why he doesn't want a lcd,i guess due to the price.

On a second note isn't Pioneer available out there? Albeit if he could afford one?
 
I'm sure he did not bother checking! Bah how lazy can people get. :\
