thanx a lot comp@ddict :)

But i would like to know, whether the corsair TX 650 would be enough if i am using 5850 in crossfire. And is i7 860 widely available in india now?

And i7 920 has more bus speed than i7 860. Does that make a difference in rendering and multitasking? As i am a newbie, curious to know about this :)

I am really confused whether to go for P55 or X58 mobo. A really good P55 mobo would cost me around 10K or even higher and also X58 mobo, the MSI X58 PRO-E is around 11K i think plus it would be future proof i guess. :S

Need more advice from experts here please.

CPU - nehalem Core i-7 920 -14k

Motherboard - Gigabyte x58 UD5 -15k

GPU - ATI HD 5850 -17k

SMPS - Corsair 650 TX -6.8k

Monitor - Dell 2409W -11k

Cabinet - CM690 -4.5k

RAM- G.SKILL DDR3 3*1GB F3-10666CL7T-3GBPK -4.5k

Mouse - Logitech MX-518 -1.5k

KeyBoard -Logitech Basic -0.5k

Total-74.3k

i know it's more so,get a socket 1156 core i5 instead..

will save you 11.5k with M/B & Proccy.

then Total will be 62.8

No need to confuse obviously i7 920 (Bloomfield) is powerful than i7 860 (Lynnfield) except factory clock speed:) But u can overclock your i7 920 from 2.66 GHZ to your desired possible speed:hap2:

+ve's of i7 920 (Bloomfield) LGA 1366 - X58

1. Support for QPI (Quick Path Interface) has a wider bandwidth than the slower DMI (Direct Media Interface) which is for LGA 1156 socket pro's.

2. Support for Triple Channel memory, so memory related Games & applications can benefit from X58's.

3. As of now X58 can support 3 PCI-E cards at the max speed of x16, x16, x8
while P55 will support x16, x8 or x16, x4, x4 due to P55 chipset limitations.

4. LGA 1366 boards are safe bet for future upgrading. upcoming Intel Core i9 is for LGA 1366 sockets. So u no need to worry about further upgrading limitations.

5. LGA 1366 (X58) i7 pros are the fastest system u can build.:hap2:

-ve's of i7 920 (Bloomfield) LGA 1366 - X58

1. Price!! Price!! Price!! Price!! Price!!:S

2. Very few Apps/Games out there to benefit from this monster, but this is not a big deal.

3. i7 860 easily take out i7 920 of course clock speed comes here to play a little bit downside for i7 920 (u can OC):)

4. You have to spend little more on heat sink bcoz default cooler has reported its sucks when ur procy OC'd, so OC's should have to spend some decent amount on 3rd party coolers otherwise ur pros will Fry.:@

BTW ur budget is little bit low for X58's so go with P55 the only downside is limited CF or SLI Gaming but upcoming Boards are designed to use NVidia chips which will remove the bandwidth bottleneck so have to wait for it:no: will not come cheap either:ohyeah:

OR compromise on other parts like GFX & Monitor save some money buy X58 (my personal recomm) and spend it more on later.

i7 920 - 14.5k

MSI X58 Pro-E (the cheapest MB & no SLI support that why:ohyeah:) - 11k

Any Branded PSU (min 750W - 850W) - 6.5-10k

RAM like GSkill, Corsair, Kingston will b around max - 6k

Cab is your personal choice but should have a room for future upgrades and plenty of ventilation. - Price no Idea:D

Monitor like Sam, dell or VS - max 10k

Others - Like GFX, HDD, UPS its your decision comes.

so its possb to buy X58 for ur budget cost around 55k roughly which covered major parts almost:hap2: So if u have a time to spend more on other parts then go with it or P55 strictly for now def a worthy buy but not a Future proof.

^^^thanks mate. That really helped me taking a decision. i ve decided to compromise on monitor and GPU for now. Will save some money and go for 58xxx series later.

i7 i860 matches i920 in all benchmarks(actually beats it in most) because applications fail to utilise the extra bandwidth offered by triple channel ddr3..

and while i920 consumes a full 75W more than i860 while stressed out...i suggest i860 to u...

For CFx....a TX750W wud be better, as it doesn't cost too much a premium over TX650W...and it's always better to be on the safer side isn't it?

ya buddy i7 860 might be performing near to i7 920. But 860 is not available here. So going for 920 now. thanks for the suggestions. :)

Btwn, if i buy a 5870 in the future, wil 650 TX suffice the power requirements?

Since you are buying from Kerala, it suggests that you are of Mallu descent. Since Mallus are all over and are very cliche, you should go for all the cliche hardware. Will suit you best.

buy a HD5850 and CFx it instead of the HD5870...they perform similarly(because the CPU bottlenecks...yes a 3.8GHz Core i7 i975 EE bottlenecks them).

Wow. That’s quite a rig. If it doesn’t fit your budget, then drop the i7 and go for AMD Phenom II X4 965 on a 790FX board.

Get the i7 i860 or this combo
i920 @ 14.4k
MSI X58 Pro @ 10k
6GB DDR3 1333MHz @ 8.5k

The TX650 can handle HD4870X2 without problems, HD5850 CFx consumes lesser power......

he is getting crossfire soon :P cause 5850 need more amps ;)

at least i would recommend the new psu FSP 700-800 watt for 6k with modular cable

btw the config is good why not get some extra hard disk in RAID setup model :)

Processor: Intel Core i5 750 - 10.3k
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-P55M-UD2 - 6.7k
RAM: Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) 1600MHz DDR3 - 6k
Cabinet: HAF 922 / HAF 932 - 6.7k / 9.6k
SMPS: Corsair TX 650 - 6.7k
Monitor - Benq 2200HD - 8k
GPU - ATI 5850 - 17k
Mouse - Logitech MX-518 -1.5k
KeyBoard -Logitech Basic -0.5k
Total : 63k / 66k

A bigger cabby is what you require when you crossfire. HAF 922 will be a better choice compared to CM 590/690 when crossfiring 2x5870

No need for i7 860 as it offers no considerable performance to i5 in gaming. Moreover i5 750 performs @ 85% of i7 860 in all other benchies.

i5 is better vfm @ 10k and if 15k is budget for ur cpu then go for i7 920
