Hello there...
I need an electric geyser which would be low on power consumption(5 star mandatory) for a family of 2 ppl.
I am not having much idea about brands but definitely would be looking for good A.S.S, good heating.
Is mentioning the capacity in liters compulsory?? An average bucket suffices my need.
Would be looking for a product where Variable temperature setting would be a plus point.
I did went through this thread http://www.techenclave.com/consumer-electronics/ao-smith-water-geyser-any-feedbacks-178226.html but being a year old, many more products might now be available in market.
Any suggestions...

I bought Thermoking 5 star rated, 25 ltrs, copper tank gyser for 3800/- There are many available in market that are local and ISI marg, look sexy as well, and have a 5 star rating anywhere between 3200-5500. AO Smith and other branded ones are slightly expensive at over 6k. The main reason I bought Thermoking was that it was the cheapest copper tank gyser with 5 star rating that I could find.
The other cheaper brands included Johnson, Vanson, Ramson, Arise etc. Some with new look and some old look. Thermoking was old look but very very decent looking.

we purchasd bajaj instant geysers for 2.5k each. they have 1litre tank capacity and the hot water starts immediately. pretty decent :)

As per my knowledge, Bajaj is nowadays sourcing their geysers instead of manufacturing them in their OWN factory. This has a bad effect on the product price and sometimes even on the quality. Hence, as per your budget, I would suggest either a cheap but decent manufacturing brand like Thermoking, Remson or a expensive worthy geyser like AO Smith.

Just ensure that you buy a ABS body geyser if you are looking for power efficiency. Star-ratings should'nt be followed blindly. They usually make a different piece for testing while selling a different one to the consumer. Common sense says glass wool (metal body geyser) cannot come close to thermal insulation of PolyUtherane (found only in ABS body geysers).

Instant geysers (1Litre-3L) are good for single person use, and can be slow in filling a usual hot water bucket of 10 litres. At the same time, their heating element consumes 3kW as compared to 2kW of a storage water heater (6L-35L).

My Suggestion: Remson Savvy 15 Litres ~ 5.2k or AO Smith EWS 10L/15 L ~ 6k/6.7k depending upon your budget.

EDIT: On a second thought, temperature control is too useful to be avoided. And 15L is too much for just two people. Hence suggesting AO Smith EWS 6L/10L only.

Most of the companies source geysers from other manufacturers by addind their company logos on them.
Best would be Racold geysers, bit high on price, but very reliable. You will get temp. control along with them.
Yes you will have to mention the capacity you need.
IMO for 2 ppl, 15ltr would do.
If you need instant then you can go for that too ie 10ltr.

I am having a Usha Lexus 25 ltr geyser. But it consumes lot of energy. So recently I purchased a hot water rod which is widely available in the market (with ISI mark) and it is working fine. It is just for Rs.150/-. For 2 persons it is sufficient.
