what does he want? a plain jane mp3 only player or a video capable one or something with support for expansion slots??
if he wants video then you can get the sansa fuze 8gb in that price - plus it has a micro sd card slot for expansion. without video get a sansa clip 4gb or i think an 8gb version is also releasing in future.
dont have much info on other players so you will have to wait for others to chip in.
