is this Generic PSU? If yes then avoid at all cost. @OP, avoid Generic/local/cheap psu if you dont want to risk your system from getting damaged.

Once again, avoid el-cheapo psus.
Downgrade the mobo and get atleast an FSP 350W.

Best product doesnt come "cheap". -_-"
Try to find an APC/Numeric 600VA UPS.

Intel D425KT is Desktop Board which is of small size, so it takes laptop ram.

What about the PSU??

Once again, avoid el-cheapo psus.

Downgrade the mobo and get atleast an FSP 350W.

OEM PSUs that come cabinet should work for low powered systems like this. However, If OP has the budget; I too recommend upgrading to decent PSU from likes of corsair etc. But if there is no money -- OEM PSUs should do the job.

i am not going with Atom one(Intel D425KT - ATOM 1.6 GHz).... as the below config is coming in same price(got it frm DarkAngel)..wot do u say, i will go with it?

If you can get Intex 1kVA one for around 2k then its a very good deal.
heard from a friend that it is good for backup and costs less.

Or get a normal PSu which can be bought for 1.5k or less.
One of my friend runs E7500 on it and gives 20 min backup on gaming.
So it might be enough for your low powered rig.

And intel Atom setup suggested by Gaurish i also a very good recommendation .
Or you may go buy darkangel Suggestion.

And i guess you know the price of HDD so if you already have one use it for some days till HDD prices are reasonable.

for such a low end rig...a cheapo 450 Rs SMPS is more than enough..put the money saved from SMPS on a 4GB DDR3 single stick...or try to squeeze in a 780-785G Gigabyte mobo which has a better IGP...or maybe a Athlon X2 250/260

If its a office machine, which will double up as a download rig, would suggest to go with an Atom. The cost may seem high initially, but i am pretty sure the power savings when you run it 24x7 will add up pretty soon.

it is a Home Machine!! not office

Bro, If OP's budget is less and the system he is going to use will hardly consume about 200w of power then a generic smps is more than enough... They work well with such configs.... I can confirm based on my experience with several such systems.

@ OP,

Athlon X2 260 3.2ghz + GIGABYTE GA-MA78LMT-S2 (2011 model) = Combo price is 5600/-

4gb Gskill value 133mhz DDR3 ram = 1100/-

591484ed9ab538efe5.jpg

Generic Cabinet + 400w PSU ~ 1200/-

Intex keyboard and mouse~ 400/- (basic..works well, is durable)

DVD writer ~ 950/-

Monitor Benq 16inch LED ~ 3550/-

Logitech Speakers 2.0 ~ 400/-

Iball Nirantar UPS ~ 1250/-

A second hand HDD from TE would be better buy with more than 2 years warranty

For new HDD : 320gb has gone to nearly 4000/- again.

We have already done that, it seems he really cant stretch much beyond 15K

I would suggest the OP to go with a Pentium G620 combo deal. Its much better value for money.
