Hi,

Can anyone please suggest me some good "City Building Games"

I played one Caesar III and Roller Coaster Tycoon decades back.. Read the Release of Sim City: Societies. So got interested in playing those again..

So any good recommendations on those lines :)

Here is the comprehensive list of games from that genre :-
City-building game - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Its just i don't have whole lot of time to try each one of those so i am looking for selective couple of best ones ;)

Thanx..

Caeser 3 pwns all!!!

SimCity 4 was good

Civ is not technically a city builder - its a turn based strategy game - awesome, but not a city builder - damn addictive though:)

Actually there have been no good city builders of late, the last somewhat decent one released was CivCity:Rome

I'm the right man to come to for advice about City builders.

If you liked Caesar III, you might like "Caesar IV". It's a lot easier than CasarIII, but fun none the less. The game's pretty heavy on resources, though.

You should also try "SettlersII, 10th anniversary". A remake of a classic which is tremendously fun. Pretty cartoony though.

Above all these though, you should definitely get Emporer: Rise of the middle kingdom at first sight. The best damn City builder from Impression Games yet. You can also try "Pharaoh", "Children of the Nile" and "Zeus" if you can find them. All from the same developer.

Apart from these, you could give "City life", "Sim City4" and "The movies" a try. I haven't played any of them, but they come highly reccommended.

Caeser III, Pharaoh, Simcity 4000 are pretty much one of the best city sim games out there.

Civilization is more of a country/civilization sim then a city sim but its the best one out there! :)

Thanx everyone..

Checked Wiki

Roman Empire - Caesar · Caesar II · Caesar III · Caesar IV
Ancient Egypt - Pharaoh · Cleopatra · Children of the Nile
Ancient Greece - Master of Olympus - Zeus · Master of Atlantis - Poseidon
Ancient China - Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom

@Nish :- Thanx for the detailed list :) I checked out "The Settlers II 10th Anniversary Edition" and it seems its more of an RTS than City Building..

Pharaoh and Zeus are released in 1999 and 2000.. So Graphics must be average na ? Are they still recommended for thier gameplay ?

Also these games must be having Ancient Civs pattern right.. Nothing wrong with it but i dont wanna play too much of it.. City Life seems to have modern civs..

So initially I am planning to get one from City Life/ Sim City 4 (Which one ? ) and two from Pharaoh,Zeus and Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom (Which one ?)

"The Movies" Seems Interesting :D

So many titles, so little time (sigh) :bleh:

Pharaoh and zeus are 2D rendered so nothing biggie on system requirements. But provide clean/addictive gaming especially if your a city sim fan.

I recommend Black & White 2... Not entirely a City building game altogether but more like it...

Thats more like falls into the god game category..

Railroads is a pretty good game with good graphics. But amazingly buggy with repeated crashes and errors that totally irked me off. I was too lazy to check up whether any subsequent patches made the difference.

Not a city sim but all about building railroads and connecting cities and watching your profits grow (stock market options) .

But i rather recommend railroad tycoon 2 gold edition over this anyday as its amazingly detailed for a game and if you can overlook the 2D nature and graphics (not bad still though) you can find an amazing game!:)

^^
Actually the wiki link itself suggests that Sid Meiers Version i.e Latest version is buggy and users found RRT 3 the best of all.. !!

u could try a very old game called capitalism. Basically you build stuff to make money. and apart from building stuff you also have the stock market and all

I would recommend Sim City 4 . From the graphics and gameplay point-of-view it rocks. I literally spend hours looking at how the city works . Also you can download ahuge variety of user-created contents fron the web which keeps the game from getting boring.:hap2: Dont even think of getting Societies - its more eye-candy than city building.
But from a pure gameplay perspective I would suggest Ceasr III . The graphics are a bit let down though. Caesar IV like someone suggested tilts the balanse the other way - superb graphics probably the best in this genre but a somewhat easier gameplay.

So in short go for SimCity4 and Caesar III. :ohyeah:
