Hi

Need to buy an LCD TV. Budget is max Rs. 50,000. Can someone recommend which size, company and model would be best. Is 32" the best Value For Money right now or a bigger size?

Also should I go in for Grey market or buy with bill. Does the grey market thing have warranty? What are advantages and disadvantages?

Thanks, waiting for your suggestions. Live in a small town so will have to buy from any city. Anyone knows a good deal please write in.

You can get Bordeux series models from Samsung. The 26'' should cost you within Rs 30000. The next size will be within 50k.

Bravia series from SONY is also great but these are costlier.

I suggest that you check these out yourself in a showroom :)

i saw a 26" Sony bravia in hypercity today, it was around 32000, and the samsung 26" lcd was for about 29,900, i suggest u go for the sony bravia

Can anyone clarify me on the new line-up of lcd tv's from ACi, saw on news today that they are launching a 40" LCD TV for 25k with there new 15k mini lappy........... [saw it on NDTV Profit 2day afternoon]

Any idea who's the oem for them & what are the spec's

Get the Sony Bravia 32S310 MRP Rs.49990 available at Vijay Sales for Rs.48500
Look for bargains in your area..
From the grey mkt the same shud be arnd 40k:hap2:

its useless to buy sony 32" as its HD ready not complete HD 1080p model. if you are genuinely interested i would suggest go for X series or W series they are the best ones in context to the upgrading technology. you will be able to attach a complete HD Home theatre and blue ray players in the near future. but if budget is really a constraint then bravia S series 32" in ok. or you can also try Mosel Black for samsung its also gud.

You can get cheaper rates in grey market but no gurantee or warranty. Plus the make will be from malaysia not from japan. if you get the stuff on bill then their will be all warranty and the product make is frm orignal sony japan.

well if u buy from the grey market u will not a bill so hence no warranty... i think its wise if u don't buy from the grey market..because u never know what will happen to the TV especially LCD... and Toshiba LCD Tv's are the best... but kind of hard to find i think... next is Sony then Samsung..... my aunt has a 40' Sony... the picture quality is great but the sound sucks to be blunt and honest.. i could not make out the conversation at all... so before u buy don't look at only the picture... check sound clarity too...coz great pic is nothing without the sound to back it up.... maybe u will have to comprimise on one of them a little..

He is not looking for fullHD model.
He has clearly mentioned his budget limitations, and in 50k price bracket the best one to buy at the moment is 32S310A/B.
I purchased this from gray market for 38k as even official warranty if just a year. And hardly anything goes wrong in 1 year.

And 32S310 will accept 1080P and scale it down to 720P. And mind you even at native 720P the1080P source looks better than 720P. Unlike old S/V/U models from Sony which were limited to 720P or 1080i this is 1080P ready.
Not full HD but 1080P ready.

And if anyone has generous budget then screw fullHD LCD. Get yourself 42/50inch plasma instead.

Thank you for a most helpful reply funky. Is there any chance the grey market guys might give a defective model or have some other disadvantages apart from no-warranty. Also can I get it repaired through official channels by paying repair expenses?

Also 38k's the budget that best suits me. Did you do enough research and compare models before buying the 32S310. How's the sound? Where'd you buy yours from? Thanks in advance for answering so many niggling questions. :)

well the 32s310 seems the best option for u considering ur budget.. an yeah its the best an latest option aswell..

an no u wont be able to get it serviced by a official channel by paying repair expenses.. they wud only service it if its a sony india product wit warranty..

hence i suggest get the 32s310 wit bil an warranty from sony showrooms .. u could get it for 47k.. also wit sony showroom ud get the wall mount/stand an installation free.. dont know wat the scene is with the same regarding grey market.

Best is Aquos, next comes Bravia. I am saying based on what I've seen .

Aquos 32'' is 52k originally, but may cost a lot less at some digtal malls

Sound is decent for TV. Its loud and clear. Ofcourse the deep bass is missing.

If you have the budget of 50 buy it through official channels.

And most of the gray market guys only will point you to the place where you can get your TV repaired just in case its needed. There are plenty of repair shops that will handle this.

Also according to the law even Sony India has to repair the piece if we ask for it by paying the normal service and repair charges. I made them repair my cousin's BX3 micro system which was purchased without bill and warranty.

Also gray market guys usually let you test the piece before you buy it.

But at the moment if you go through official channels you get pretty good deal with free wall mount. When i purchased mine i was on really tight 40k max budget no matter what. And I didnt need the wall mount.

Which model you are talking about?
I have seen 32PX, 32BX and 32AX Aquos and 32S310 side by side before purchasing. And 32S310 has wayyy better contrast and sharpness compared to 32BX and 32AX Aquos.
Movies looked really great on 32S310 in theater mode. Same with TataSky broadcast that was used to showcase the TVs in the mall here. ( I took my own laptop and HDMI cable with me to see my content).

Aquos 32PX really stood out from both sony 32S310 and other two Aquos. But it was really expensive at 62k.

One that costs 52-53 k retail.
