Need suggestions for the configuration of PCs for a new gaming cafe

Requirements are, must run TF2 at decent settings if not high, CSS, and all the rest of popular FPS games that people play on LAN

Thinking if going for LCD monitors instead of CRT because of the power consumption and also space factor

Wouldn't mind keeping the PC overclocked

And lastly, must not require an upgrade for the coming 2 yrs atleast

Budget is 30K per PC. lesser, the better

Also, there are a lot of power outages these days besides the 4 hrs daily scheduled powercuts, would a backup solution of say 12 PCs plus a few fans for ~3hrs daily come up to being a costly affair? Any approximation of the power required and howmuch it would work out to be?

Thanks in advance.

For a Gaming Cafe the following configuration will do, it'll do without an upgrade for 2 years.

CPU : Intel Core 2 Duo E5200 Rs.3700/-

MOBO : Zotac NF610I Rs.2200/- If you want cheap

Asus P5K PL C Rs.4000/- Stable VFM

Biostar TP35D2-A7 Rs.4400-/- Best Performance+ OC

GPU : Gigabyte 8600GT 256MB GDDR3 SILENT Rs.4000/-

RAM : Kingston 1gb*2 DDR2 800Mhz Rs.1800/-

HDD : Western Digital 160gb SATA Rs.1600/-

LCD Display : Viewsonic 17''W 1440*900 res Rs.7800/-

CABINET : Zebronics Bijli Rs.900/-

SMPS : Cooler Master 400W Extreme Rs.1750/-

DVD Writer : L.G. H62N 20x IDE Rs.1000/-

HEADPHONES : Zebronics Zeb 1000 HMV Rs.120/- Comfortable+Strong+good for games.

NET : 27000-/-.

You can get a good bargain on the above price if you buy in numbers.

Max. Power Consumption Of the above PC should be 200Watt ,i.e, 320Watt being used because of average 60% efficiency + 50 watt of LCD display = 370 watt.

I dont recommend OC'ing on a large scale as a Cafe, as the power consumption will increase quite a lot.

Hmm get dvd-writer on just 1 system ( the server pc that is )...and get good networking setup and you can share it. The 1000rs for dvd writer may look low initially ..but 1000 x 12 systems= 12,000 ..You can get much more useful stuffs like a Good Gigabit switch or Racing wheel / joystik stuffs like G25 etc...

And there is no point in getting a 8600gt these days even for a cafe purpose ...Since u are gonna use 17inch Monitors..i think you should get the 9600gso @ 6.2k ( you can get the price reduced if ordering 12 quantities) , it will let you play almost all games at high @ medium resolutions without AA and AF .

9500GT will do fine...Goto a gaming cage here in Kolkata its got these specs

AMD X2 4000+

2GB RAM

8600GT

Acer 17inch Monitor

Navtech cabinet and headphones

Logitech Mouse Keyboard and a cheap surface for the mouse.

Don;t know about the motherboard.

This computer handles CSS at full and crysis at medium and GOW at Medium to high.

Just make sure you get some high bandwidth 1GB+ as this place has 1GB and boss when there are 4 different co-ops going on you can feel the lag sometimes which really pisses the shit out of people who pay to game.

You may also wanna start a service such as provide only the monitor if people wanna get their own CPU's

Do rememver to buy cases which have USB and Audio out infront as most of have the tendency to carry are own headsets and mice.

The most important thing about a gaming cafe is ambience which seriously most of them lack. They are either too over lit or just too shabby.

I would advice you get air conditioners as it gets hot in a gaming cafe.

The most important thing atleast to me would be a simple log in system not like reliance in which tehy cut 10 nucks everytime you log in and then the machine hangs and you have to restart and log in again man that is pathetic. CafeZee is a good software for that.

Anyways Best of Luck,

Amit.pitbull's config is pretty good I suggest you go with that.

Is the E5200 even available in mumbai ? :S

My two cents

E7200... coz it's quite cheap and will last two years

Any compatible mobo that can take at least 4Gb of RAM. Don't look for overclocking.

Generic 2GB RAM. Even 667Mhz will do. (You may have to add 1GB more RAM after a year or so)

9500GT

17" monitor. Will keep the GFX requirements in check.

Elite+CM 460W Extreme Power combo.

80GB Sata. Enough for OS and around 10 games

No DVD/writer. Install games through the drive in your main comp.

Decent and cheap headphones. Something from Zebronics will do.

Windows XP as OS
