Hi,

I am new to this forum and this is my first post. I am looking to buy a wireless keyboard+mouse combo. Keyboards are one product you cannot judge from the picture. Microsoft has a very nice combo but the problem is they have very small functional keys and as a programmer, I need my debugging keys to be big. Some keyboards look good but end up having clunky keys. So, please share your experiences if you have bought a combo recently. Any recommendations would be extremely helpful. The 1.5k limit is not a hard one and I can go up if there is an exceptional product

Thanks in advance folks

Hi Rustic Bit, welcome to the forum.
First of all let me clarify that I am not an expert from any darn angle.. but since I bought a wireless keyboard/ mouse about an year back, i thought i might share the experience with you. The budget might be too low for a good quality keyboard-mouse.
I had bought Microsoft wireless desktop keyboard 3000 v2.0 along with MS wireless mouse 5000. I am pretty happy with this combo. But the mouse is a bit too smooth; in other words there is no tactile feedback from the scroll button. So if you are into gaming or need very fine scroll adjustment, this is not the best mouse.

Another thing is, always check the size of the mouse before buying. Many times the cheaper combos, include a small mouse instead of a full sized one. If you have a large palm (like I do) it is very painful to use the mouse for a long time.

Hope this helps; take care.

Hi bookoon,

Thanks for the reply mate. I really liked the model you quoted, though it pushes my wallet just a bit too far. Anyway, I am not looking for any gaming equipment, more of a general purpose combo. I need to type a lot and am more concerned with the keyboard being smooth without interference or lag and the keys being properly spaced. Not looking for any ergonomic boards either. So folks, please help me out and suggest a slightly cheaper combo

Btw bookon, could you tell me how the mouse supplied along with the 3000 v2 combo is? I too have large hands. Is it comfortable?

Hi Rustic

I should have explained this better . Microsoft wireless desktop 3000 V2.0 consists of the 3000 v2.0 keyboard and 5000 mice. I did not buy the mice separately; it came as a package costing about 3000 bucks.

MS 5000 mouse is pretty comfortable. it is a big one; check the exact dimensions from the MS link.

Rustic Bit - Hello!
After using two different wireless combos - MS 2000, Logitech MK 270. Here are my experiences:
MS 2000: Mouse - Excellent and 'ultra' BIG mouse for big hands. I am very happy with that and then there is no other mouse which is that big for that price. Otherwise, you have to settledown for a wired-gaming mouse if your first priority is the size. Battery life is decent.
MS 2000: KB - My primary creiteria is a full size keyboard, old school. Very few options to that now a days. This keyboard satisfies it. Soft keys, nice overall layout. Battery life is decent. It has a additional palm rest to it. I am not a big fan of it. However, high on maintenance - you got to do a little bit of labour as it is a glossy finish and so attracts dirt and smudges are evident. Thankfully the mouse is not of that finish.
L-MK270: Mouse: Works well - I have no complaints but then, it's category about size can be compared to that of a laptop mouse. Smaller than the common wired desktop mouse. Battery life is good.
L-KM270: KB - Full size layout. Simple, Compact when compared with MS. Keys are not as silent as MS. Overall, compact and does the job well. Battery life is good.
If it were the looks, MS scores well ahead of Logitech.
For both of them - you have to strech your budget to 2k.

Hope this was helpful.
